Jfoster99 80 Posted July 14, 2016 Any thoughts on the better value? I plan to pair it with and Anderson Lower.
Jfoster99 80 Posted July 14, 2016 The Anderson upper is $258 The PSA is $209 Should I place any weight on pairing an Anderson Lower with an Anderson Upper as more of a premium build over over pairing Anderson and PSA as a mixed build... Especially for resale?
Schrödinger's cat 87 Posted July 14, 2016 No, I don't think so. PSA's PTAC line isn't great. They frequently have daily deals for about the same price from their freedom or premium lines, those barrels are made by FN and are much better.
mikeyjones 88 Posted July 15, 2016 The Anderson uppers typically pair better w/ their lowers, in my experience. The PTAC line is garbage, I'd steer clear of them. If you're worried about resale value, get a name brand gun - factory built.
Schrödinger's cat 87 Posted July 15, 2016 Resale value may not be great but you should be able to sell a perfectly functioning low count AR for $500 easily, and you should be able to put together that rifle under $600.
Jfoster99 80 Posted July 15, 2016 Thanks for the info... Any thoughts on this $199 Upper... I'd be trading the front sight post for a generic keymod rail.
mikeyjones 88 Posted July 15, 2016 You have 3 1:7 twist barrels and 1 1:8. What weight bullets are you going to be shooting? If you're sticking primarily to 77s, the 1:7 will serve you well. If you're going to be doing mostly 55s the 1:8 or even 1:9 would be better.
Krdshrk 3,872 Posted July 15, 2016 1/7 will be fine for 55gr... it's when you go with lighter weight bullets that you need a slower twist rate.
Jfoster99 80 Posted July 15, 2016 This site 22mods4all.com offers 1/7, 1/8 and 1/9 barreled uppers for $199. I'll likely go with a 1/8. I just can't find any information on them. For that price I'm just looking for an everyday plinker....
Dr.Jimmy Rustler 23 Posted July 15, 2016 I'd go with the 22mods4all upper, mainly because you get a keymod rail w it.
n4p226r 105 Posted July 15, 2016 I'd go with something like this http://ballisticadvantage.com/14-5-inch-556-m4-carbine-cmv-modern-barrel.html With the F marked FSP and everything. Add a stripped upper and at least you know the barrel is from a place with decent reviews. You should be able to find a cheap upper and be within $250ish. Then just pin a muzzle brake and shave the bayonet lug and you'll be set. Also realize that with the fixed front sight you don't have to buy a front and rear sight. Only a rear. rightisright 3 Posted July 15, 2016 Stay away from no-name stuff.... especially barrels and BCGs. Someone mentioned the PSA Freedom line above. That's their mid-grade stuff and it's a decent bang for the buck. I bought an "everything but lower" Freedom kit from them for $379 w. free shipping. I have about 500 rounds through it. 2 MOA w. 55gr surplus and not a hiccup yet.

Jfoster99 80 Posted July 16, 2016 Does anyone sell NJ compliant uppers for under $300? That may be cheaper in the long run?
Krdshrk 3,872 Posted July 17, 2016 Radical is decent for cheap Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I beg to differ: From Reddit: Roommate just bought a Radical Firearms 10.5 5.56 barrel and this is what he got. Huge gouges in the rifling near the gas port. How this ever left the factory is beyond me.

Can't remember if it was rifle extension with m4 feed ramps or m4 barrel extension without m4 feed ramps in the upper. But hey, they are cheap.
Jfoster99 80 Posted July 20, 2016 So I call up the owner of 22modsforall.com. Home of the $199 upper. Apparently they use Anderson upper receivers and Bearcreek barrels. I am familiar with Anderson but not so much with Bearcreek.... The Bearcreek website sell 16" barrels for $79 so I gather then are and economy value brand...
Bigal4773 0 Posted July 22, 2016 I just started a budget build starting with a spike tactical lower that i got a good deal on. during my search for uppers i found this on the interwebz. http://daytonatactical.com/collections/ar15-rifle-uppers-16-and-longer/products/16-1x9-wylde-carbine-15-inch-keymod-rail-no-bcg-or-charging-handle Anyone know anything about this company and their products? Schrödinger's cat 87 Posted July 22, 2016 Call them and ask who's barrel they use. Their prices are just about those of PSA's daily deals. I think I've heard of them but only for 80% lowers.
Jfoster99 80 Posted August 3, 2016 Last night I picked up my 10 pack of Anderson $39 stripped lowers... The NICS / FFL Transfer fee averaged $16... So I was FFL to my Safe for $55 each... Franks Tackle and Field in Wanaque did the FFL Transfer.. $44 For the first Gun, $22 for the second and $11 each additional. Not a bad deal.... It did take us almost an hour to complete all the paper work....
Purple Patrick 638 Posted August 3, 2016 Trying to sell any of those? this signature exceeds the 15 character capacity count
Schrödinger's cat 87 Posted August 3, 2016 Nice. That's called looking ahead, I'd do that in a flash if I could afford it. I've recently found a possible alternative to Radical for cheap barrels called spinta precision. They have a sale section with barrels for $80 and I'm expecting their quality to be much better. I'll be ordering 2 BCG's and 3 bolts later today and I'll post a review of what I think. I mainly plan on shooting 6.5 Grendel and I have an expensive barrel for that, but I think it'll be a smart move for me to buy a cheap .556 barrel and a cheap 7.62 barrel so that if everything goes crazy I still have the ability to shoot the two most readily available types of ammo. Jfoster99 80 Posted August 4, 2016 Trying to sell any of those? this signature exceeds the 15 character capacity count Not for sale... Long term storage for now... Maybe a couple of quick low budget builds... I've been looking at $199 complete uppers from 22modsforall.com...
