High Exposure 5,662 Posted September 21, 2016 Why not just build an upper with a 14.5" + brake or 16 inch barrel? There are plenty of reliable and affordable options out there. And you get the benefit of superior ballistics to a shorter barrel. Here is my .40 Glock hey ar here is my .40 Glock AR. It has a 14.5 inch barrell from quarter circle 10 or, a quarter circle 10 bolt, and a pinned one and a half inch break, installed on a VLTOR upper receiver, and a 13" ALG EMR V2. Contrvlr 17 Posted September 21, 2016 A 10.5 inch barrel and 5.5 inch extension won't get you to the 16 inch minimum barrel length

david8613 69 Posted October 12, 2016 A 10.5 inch barrel and 5.5 inch extension won't get you to the 16 inch minimum barrel length Isn't it as long as it's pinned and welded, it's considered total barrel length? I'll let the experts explain better than me but this is how I understood the law.

I think he is referring to the length of overlap on the threads. If a 5.5" add on threads .5" on the barrel you are now 15.5" on a 10.5" barrel.
