Newtonian 453 Posted September 26, 2016 The answer to above is, Wait for it! TO GET AN EXTRA FEE for the instructor that is. Naaa in typical "Mike" matter-of-fact fashion said something like, "I have a license to carry a handgun in XX states." My wife was very impressed. I had just got my Utah permit so I was not. 'Cause I'm a gunslinger.
Rob0115 1,105 Posted September 27, 2016 This is a revelation. When I took the Utah class at Heritage Guild the instructor offered us the Fla. license as well. I believe there were some extras involved, as I recall more than just filling out the form and sending in the fee. Does anyone who took the Utah class remember a similar offer? Was it simply for convenience? To get an extra fee? Total B.S.? Fla. is somewhat important because it gives you, er, Florida. Plus NM. Does anyone remember what Mike in Breaking Bad told the FBI in the interrogation room? He-he that's me but I can't carry to pick berries behind my house. I can't answer those questions because I've never done it. I went to FL, because I live there part time, walked in and showed my ID filled out the form and that was it. Hunting license, NRA basic pistol and many other forms of training are acceptable proficiency. Check the link I posted earlier they are all listed out. The motivation of the people that did your Utah I cannot tell but I can say there was no need for extra things to get your FL permit.
Jfoster99 80 Posted September 28, 2016 I never took the NJ hunter ed class. I was grandfathered in with a NY license back in 1991. Are you saying all I need for Fla. is my license and not proof of having taken the NRA pistol course or the hunter ed class? I can provide the NRA cert but it would take me several hours to find. Not my actual hunting Lic. It was my NJ Hunters Ed completion certificate. Not sure if they accept an actual Hunting lic.
Jfoster99 80 Posted September 28, 2016 Well I guess that Florida dosnt believe Obozos comments that all is well as far as Islamic terrorism goes.. If I were A CCW collector I would send them A check and app But Utah and NH work for me. Does this qualify as a collector? And I'd trade them all for a NJ Permit...
DDT1345 10 Posted October 26, 2016 I just did my Hunter Ed today and am finalizing my FL application. One thing isn't clear. Do I need to include a copy of my driver license or passport if I'm a citizen? It seems like the answer is no, but could someone clarify? Thanks! Rob0115 1,105 Posted October 26, 2016 passport is good for FL because they don't do a traditional resident / non-resident deal. All CWP from FL are the same so they only need identity. While carrying using a FL CWP reciprocity is decided based on whether you are resident or not and that is determined by the ID you would present should the need arise. If you have FL/DL your CWP is treated as resident and any other state as non-resident. Your FL CWP will be the same as mine as a resident. I get greater reciprocity because I own a home and have chosen to have FL for my drivers license. FL also use CWP for their licenses, concealed weapon permit, because it covers more than guns e.g. Ballistic knives.
sroc112 19 Posted October 30, 2016 Is phase 1 (online portion) of the NRA Basics of Pistol course sufficient to submit in for your FL non-res, or must it be phase 2 (live fire) as well?

JohnnyB 4,289 Posted October 31, 2016 I have a Florida CCW. DL or passport copy is absolutely NOT required if you are a native citizen!
