Ultrasonic Cleaner

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of buying an ultrasonic cleaner, just because I can use it for so many things.

Cleaning hand guns, 22lr silencers, and cartridge cases.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations?

I'm  thinking of going with a commercial machine like Crest of a Chinese knock off.

My buddy just got one off of Ebay for $50 to clean carbs and such.  He's pretty happy with it.  All metal.  Heated.  Kinda like a spa for your parts.  Hell, buy it and put it next to the hot tub with a Ken and Barbie doll and a mini bottle of vodka and it'll be a mini version of Old School and Mrs. Old School!!!

Yep new hot tub on the screened in porch in SC.

Do your have to clean out the unit after every use?

Can you use it on slides and pistol frames? I'm curious if it affects the finish at all.

Can I fit a 7.5" 629 in that?  I'm tired of scrubbing these damn things.

Rob - Question? Do you use an Ultrasonic for your cans?

I talked to my silencer guy today and he said don't bother and to clean manually.

I don't I clean them manually. Some are user serviceable and can be disassembled completely for better cleaning

I was thinking for gun parts especially BCGs and small batch brass. I have a SS wet tumbler but it's a bit of work if I just need a little.

I also did my 686 down at gun for higher. Completely stripped, cleaned in the ultrasonic, lubed, reassembled and it looked like it was never fired.

So that's why all those revolvers you cleaned for me came out so nice!   :-)    Thanks Again!

Do you drain the tub, dry the parts and then put them back in the tub with this lube and then turn the sonic cleaning on again?
