Old School 611 Posted September 28, 2016 I'm thinking of buying an ultrasonic cleaner, just because I can use it for so many things. Cleaning hand guns, 22lr silencers, and cartridge cases. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations? I'm thinking of going with a commercial machine like Crest of a Chinese knock off.
Bully 749 Posted September 28, 2016 My buddy just got one off of Ebay for $50 to clean carbs and such. He's pretty happy with it. All metal. Heated. Kinda like a spa for your parts. Hell, buy it and put it next to the hot tub with a Ken and Barbie doll and a mini bottle of vodka and it'll be a mini version of Old School and Mrs. Old School!!! I'm curious if it affects the finish at all.

I talked to my silencer guy today and he said don't bother and to clean manually.

I don't I clean them manually. Some are user serviceable and can be disassembled completely for better cleaning I was thinking for gun parts especially BCGs and small batch brass. I have a SS wet tumbler but it's a bit of work if I just need a little. I also did my 686 down at gun for higher. Completely stripped, cleaned in the ultrasonic, lubed, reassembled and it looked like it was never fired.
