Branrob91 0 Posted October 11, 2016 I'm a fairly new shooter and in the process of doing the paperwork for my applications. Have always had an interest in shooting sports and have gone numerous times with friends to ranges with their guns. So what exactly is the process like for sending/filling out the paperwork? Is there any additional papers I need with me for handgun permits? I'm from Central NJ area if that helps. Any advice for someone new to the process would be greatly appreciated. Purple Patrick 638 Posted October 11, 2016 Read the stickies at the top of the sub forums to see that forms you need. It's easy this signature exceeds the 15 character capacity count

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The application is the same for an FPID and handgun permits, you just need to do a few extra steps (fingerprints, forms of ID) to get the initial card. Do yourself a favor and get a handful of permits even if you only intend to buy one. Letting them expire is much easier than reapplying and waiting. On that note, the time to receive your FPID/permit varies by town, but "within 30 days" is the pinnacle of optimism. It's more like 60-90 days.
louu 399 Posted October 12, 2016 Do you have your long gun permit yet? (Firearms Purchaser ID)
Branrob91 0 Posted October 12, 2016 Do you have your long gun permit yet? (Firearms Purchaser ID) No I do not have my long gun permit, is that another type of process? Like I said I'm still new to this. I'm appreciating all the feedback. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DirtyDigz 1,793 Posted October 12, 2016 Recommend that you apply for a FID and one or two handgun permits (if you're interested in having a handgun(s)) simultaneously. Get the maximum value out of the procedure you have to go through.
Golf battery 1,222 Posted October 12, 2016 Woodbridge website for fid is all accurate except for the bottom where it says please read. It basically says you have to be 21 to posses discharge or whatever a firearm. No correct.
Branrob91 0 Posted January 17, 2017 So I've sent in my FID a few months ago and still haven't received anything. Is it ok to call them and just ask how the process is going? Or should I just continue to be patient. It's been almost three months for an FID and two P2Ps Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
YankeeSC 1,204 Posted January 17, 2017 I would stop there and ask in person.

They aren't following the law so it's well within your rights to politely ask what's going on. Do you know if your references got forms and sent them back? I did it with my last batch and it worked out well. The clerk pulled my and hubby's from the STACK (yes, the size warrants ALL CAPS) waiting for the chief's signature and got them completed the same day.
Zeke 5,504 Posted January 18, 2017 ^^^^ this When I was talking to my Chief awhile back he mentioned how much time the detective spends on these. He doesn't think pd should be involved. And said" nics " is the same thing every time !!!

Branrob91 0 Posted February 12, 2017 Thanks man. Well, a buddy is selling me his Remington 597 (it's first rifle I ever shot. It'll be cool to have for sentimental reasons), and I'm planning on buying a Glock 19. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
