RedBowTies88 41 Posted January 24, 2017 Hey guys, long time no post. So, a local gentleman has for sale 2 "WW2 bring backs" one is a 1943 P38 with holster and the other is a PP in 7.65. I don't know a whole lot about these guns or what to look for, so any information would be appreciated. The P38 is supposedly numbers matching, comes with 2 magazines as well as the holster. I only viewed it briefely, but it appeared to be in good cosmetic condition. The seller had very little info on the PP, except for that the same family member brought them both back and they've been in the family ever since. It appears to be in great shape, comes with one mag and no holster. Neither guns have import marks. I'm really wondering what a reasonable value would be? As well as what if an red flags I should be looking for in case anything isn't original or has been replaced. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.
BMWR12 35 Posted January 25, 2017 The value can depend on many factors. The P38 is worth probably $700-900 in very good to excellent matching condition for that year with 1 correctly proofed mag. A complete rig with 2 correct mags and a hard shell holster would be worth $1k or more depending on condition and serial/code. The PP has a wide spectrum of $500 to thousands. robot_hell 72 Posted January 25, 2017 Any bringback papers? I've seen tons of guns that were "taken off a German". A story isn't worth much... and lack of import marks does not necessarily a bringback make. Can you get pictures of proofmarks?
