Flying out of Newark

Has anyone recently flown out of Newark airport with handguns? I'm flying out of Newark on United next month and wanted to know whether anyone's run into any problems. I flew out several years ago uneventfully just want to make sure the same thing happens this time.I know all the regulations, just worried that they've turned into New York City and are arresting people acting legally.

Nope.... nothing has changed.....follow all the rules/laws and you are good to go

Follow the procedure, locked box, in checked bag, go see TSA to declare, no ammo in the box--it must be separated.

The specific procedures seem to vary slightly every time I go, but the basic routine is the same.

I flew out recently via United.  You'll have to go to one of the kiosks then go to the special services counter for the TSA Firearms check.  Then they'll walk you over to the area where you turn your bag over.

 

Make sure you only say Firearm

Flew United day after Christmas. Super easy. Added maybe 5 minutes to my time from check-in to reaching the gate.

Took about an extra half hour for me cuz I was traveling on a Sunday (busy day).  Also waiting and finding the right help sucked.
