When you have the assault charge it kind of makes a at home hollowpoint exemption go away. Don't use a firearm loaded with hollowpoints to assault someone amd you have nothing to worry about. gleninjersey 2,134 Posted February 2, 2017 What the hell is 'verbal assault"!? If I yell at my wife, or more likely if my wife wells at me, is that now a crime?
Krdshrk 3,872 Posted February 2, 2017 If he had it legally it wouldn't matter. He assaulted people with it. pistol version isn't legal in NJ. Carbine version takes some extreme neutering to be made legit. Seeing as he has standard capacity mags, I doubt it was made compliant.
ChrisJM981 924 Posted February 2, 2017 The other occupants knew the firearm was loaded with hollow point bullets from allegedly being threatened with it? I'm usually skeptical, but this sounds like they got in a fight over something and one of the "victims" called in that he threatened them with a gun, possibly not realizing that this young man's life is now ruined.. or he's a total whack job. I'm guessing it was the carbine version. Can the stock be removed?

He must have said something at some time about having hollowpoints and the gun. Why have a gun you can't take anywhere because it's illegal in the state?Even if you used it to legally defend yourself you're screwed. Not defending the "Assault Weapon" laws but it seems he set himself up to be screwed. If he were so innocent, why the standoff with police? I don't see how the victims "ruined his life". I think he did that himself. PK90 is correct. Possession of Hollowpoints is not an add on charge. You can be charged for that single 22 hollowpoint rolling around in your trunk. However that doesn't usually happen.

BryanRT360 2 Posted February 7, 2017 How do you know the weapon in question isn't 100% compliant to begin with? Maybe had blocked mags as well.. let's say the cops were pissed he was being a jerk off and wasting their time, so they said f it let the courts decide if it's a assault weapon or not..
