This fatty is Beau(4). He only gets up for food or if Ginger(1ish) wants to play which is to his dismay pretty frequent e32b23c25520db55a20dc15380eb1e0d.jpg8d42c7f02a59e3481772a369be3713e4.jpg

Two English bulldogs. The white one is really old, like 13 or something. The brown one is three and hates it when the old one steals her bed. I'm looking to get a German Shepherd in the next couple of years.

8219d9c335da46b257fb2d2772f8e98a.jpg this is my buddy's German short hair pointer. I've gotten back into bird hunting the past few years . Nothing like hiking around with a well trained dog at work and bagging some birds. I will probably be putting my name on a breeders list for a Vizsla in the fall for a spring litter.

Hugo and Emma...

b90ace550aacd6acb8fbaa881adf8adb.jpg

My girlfriend got Hugo via friends of hers. They went to an island by Puerto Rico (don't ask me, forget it each time she tells me... I do remember they call them Satos [emoji106]), and he made his way into their rental. When they went across the island to a beach, he showed up... so they decided to bring him back. Only problem is that they couldn't keep him, so she took him. Little over two years old, but she had him since like six weeks.

We got Emma in November, and she is just over a year. She is shepard and coonhound. Was adopted in Tennessee, but returned because she chased their chickens. Monmouth County SPCA took her in due to the shelter in Tennessee was a kill-shelter. We originally were looking at American Bulldogs, but she works with children (dogs are with her all day)... so cannot have any bite history. When we picked two other dogs, my girlfriend saw her on the way out and remembered her name. After the other two were found to have a bite history, she said we should meet her.

I was against her in the beginning, being I'm not a fan of docked tails, but she is a sweetheart. Had Hugo meet her a little bit, and they got along pretty well (he is still jealous of her). Best decision we could have ever made.

We had a sheltie for almost 13.5 years.  His health was declining recently; kidney failure, arthritis.

Somehow he broke his femur this morning, and we were forced to put him down a few hours ago.

Bye, Biscuit...you were a good dog.

My condolences. I know how difficult a decision that can be.

That totally sucks. I still miss my last boxer who we put down two years ago. Every time I think about that dog I cry. So sorry to you.

Thanks, all, for the good wishes.

Even with his declining health over the last year or two, today still came as quite a shock...but the vet said he was too old/infirm for surgery (which was our opinion too), and a compound femur break can't be simply splinted.

    • In 50 years of living in NJ I've never experienced any attempt to inspect the interior of the home, and only one definite inspection of the exterior for an announced reassessment of all properties and that was a drive by. About 9 years of that was living in an apartment, but still, uncommon. Every place I lived had either a finished attic, basement, or both. But they were also included in the habitable square footage on the taxes when we got there.
    • 27.00 and change in tolls to drive down the shore from Rutherford,  47.00 in tolls to go out to Long island to visit dying relatives. Now I read they are going to raise the fees in the DMV. Murphy lied just to get elected when he said that seniors will get a significant tax break with his StayNJ" program to stop us from leaving.   Keep voting for democrats...this is what you get.  Tax and spend is all they know.  Never cut anything.  This state sucks.
    • I get the added benefit that since I have a TSP rather than a true 401(k) they tax my retirement too. Yaaaay!
