Kaiser7 33 Posted March 24, 2017 Walther P38, of if you don't want to drop THAT much money, a Walther P1, which is cosmetically similar, but with an aluminum frame, made postwar, and used by German police (also about half the cost). Tokarevs are really nice Naturally, a Luger is awesome, but you'll be dropping a pretty penny on it. A webley or reich revolver, though ammo may be hard to get for he latter one a Nambu is interesting, and was actually the inspiration for the Ruger Standard, which is largely an improved (and cheaper to produce) Nambu. Or even a beretta M9. I really liked the one I shot. I prefer my Sig226, but the M9 was very high up there on my favorite handguns. I think it sort of depends on what countries and conflicts you're interested in as well. I just named some rather random firearms. But with me personally, I'm only ever really interested in military weapons, or weapons derived from military weapons even if they're obscure. Which covers a broad swath of firearms. So I can think of more recommendations, but what are your specific interests?

Newtonian 453 Posted March 29, 2017 I was in the same position as you a few days ago. I settled on a Bulgarian Makarov hand select from classic firearms. https://www.classicfirearms.com/makarov-bulgarian-9x18-semi-auto I have a CZ82, E. German Mak, and now this. If your F.I.L. is looking for a new Tokarev I have one for sale, plus ammo. Never shot AFAIK. Price is what I paid for it.

Aleshka 0 Posted April 1, 2017 Walther P38. Still not that expensive, but supply is drying out. WWII Browning High Power would be a good choice too.
