Vicious 138 Posted March 27, 2017 Good, maybe now the price for the commercial stuff will start to go down a bit.
10X 3,296 Posted March 27, 2017 Good, maybe now the price for the commercial stuff will start to go down a bit. I wouldn't count on tightening supply to drive down prices...
Vicious 138 Posted March 27, 2017 I don't think the supply is going to tighten. 30-06 was mainly a hunting round because all the sport shooters/ plinkers/ enthusiasts shot surplus. They have the equipment to make the round, so once demand goes up, I think the price will come down. 9mm and 5.56 are in demand, but they both have affordable options. 1563621 388 Posted March 28, 2017 Saw that trench gun? Got it for less than asking! I bought a Beretta from the same seller. Had a nice collection.

Kaiser7 33 Posted March 29, 2017 I don't think the supply is going to tighten. 30-06 was mainly a hunting round because all the sport shooters/ plinkers/ enthusiasts shot surplus. They have the equipment to make the round, so once demand goes up, I think the price will come down. 9mm and 5.56 are in demand, but they both have affordable options. That's not how supply and demand work. High demand + high supply = market equilibrium. High demand + low supply = higher prices Low demand + high supply =lower prices Low demand + low supply = market equilibrium A supply of low cost ammo, like HXP should only serve to keep prices lower across the market. While most hunters aren't likely using hxp, it is, in economic terms, a substitute good for other 30-06. The loss of HXP can only cause an increase in prices as more garand owners start buying modern factory 30-06 ( especially for the loads made for guns with old oprods.) The increased demand and lowered supply for modern ammo can only serve to increase prices. I don't think, however, that prices will really increase much, If at all in reality though, as m1 garand owners are a relatively small sample of the 30-06 market I'd wager Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
