lexcruiser 12 Posted April 23, 2017 Has anyone used these Hyve extended mags for their Glocks or M&P's? Considering getting one for the Shield to make it 10+1. Looks like a decent product. Also, this wouldn't fall under the evil feature of "a magazine attaching outside of the pistol grip," correct? Not my picture -
sroc112 24 Posted April 23, 2017 Funny that you posted this - I have been on their site quite a bit this week looking at some mag plates and extended mag releases for a glock. Haven't pulled the trigger yet
Blacksmythe 71 Posted April 24, 2017 Yes I have them. I like them. They were easy to install and are nicely finished. Once you are sure you like them, Locktite them. That other question? No idea what your talking about. People in NJ use Glock extensions for forever here in NJ that do not exceed 15 rounds. Besides that would mean the original 8 rounder does too. lexcruiser 12 Posted April 24, 2017 Glad to hear you like them Blacksmythe. I think I might give them a try.. but why locktite them? Do they have a tendency to come loose? Would be a pain to open for cleaning, no? As for the other question.. just threw it out there. Just came to mind as I was looking at these extensions. I think the feature means a pistol w/ a magazine that attaches elsewhere besides the pistol grip (i.e. like a rifle mag) and not a magazine that simply "protrudes" from the grip. They did not come loose while evaluated them. that was for 650 rounds spread between 2 magazines. Feel free to judge me but I don't clean magazines unless I have fallen in water or mud. Ray Ray 3,566 Posted April 26, 2017 Why can't they make it blend in with the gun? I understand they want it to "pop" and have it be seen by many but it makes the gun look competition-ey and bilboard-ish.

The green looks better in person but I would like it more matte or foliage green.

Yeah but it's a carry gun, shouldn't it NOT look like a competition rig?
fishnut 2,358 Posted May 2, 2017 Why should a carry gun not look like a competition gun? I could care less what my CCW guns look like as long as they function 100% of the time.

Meh, I'm sure the individual with the holes in them will not care. If get shot with a pink gun, I still got shot lol!

vjf915 456 Posted June 13, 2017 Does anyone have any info about whether they include a spring or not? It's not listed on their site, so I assume now. Any reports of issues feeding the last couple rounds because of this? ETA. For what it's worth, I got a pinky extension for the 7rd mag, they can be had for under $10 on Amazon and are worth every penny. I also invested in the TLR-6 and an IWB holster to accommodate the light. It's great for peace of mind in case I need to use it in the dark. Neither is a hinderance for CCW in very light clothing. They don't come w/ a spring. You essentially just replace the base of your 8rd mag w/ the hyve extended base re-using the stock spring. Keep in mind these bases only work w/ the 8rd mags. You can also purchase them fully assembled. One of the springs in my mag completely bent after a few reloads causing FTFs. Called S&W and they sent me 4 replacements no questions asked. Apparently known issue w/ their mag springs..
