gfl216 220 Posted June 30, 2017 An acquaintance of mine sent me the below email asking about a "3 FFL". I really have no idea about interstate transfers so I was hoping that one of you may know the answer. Thanks for any help. Hi: Would you mind answering a question? I am selling a 1952 Swiss military rifle on gunbroker. It was made in 1952 making it 65 years old. It carries a 5 or 6 round clip and is bolt action. I have an interested person who has a "3 FFL" which is a Curios and Relics permit provided by ATF. . Can I sell this rifle to this guy. He lives out west. Thanks. mikeyjones 88 Posted June 30, 2017 Gut reaction is since your buddy isn't a ffl holder, the rifle would have to go through the buyers ffl. Maybe someone else can chime in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
PK90 3,569 Posted June 30, 2017 FFL03 is a C&R Licensee. I believe that firearm can be sent directly to them.Sent from an undisclosed location via Tapatalk
JT Custom Guns 956 Posted June 30, 2017 Shipper would need a copy of the C&R and needs to check that the lic is valid at time of transfer. Shipper can ship directly to C&R as long as the State in which the C&R resides allows it. As an example - NJ does not recognise a C&R so someone in TX. cannot ship it to a C&R in NJ. Just need to dot the i's & cross the t's before shipping it out.................. Good Luck!

Swiss K31 can be shipped by seller direct to FFL03. No need for a FFL01. Only NJ and HI don't fully recognize FFL03. capt14k 2,051 Posted July 5, 2017 That the FFL is valid - not expired or a forgery There are many faked FFL's floating around the internet....... FFL03 can not be searched online like FFL01. I'm on many forums and actively collect firearms. I've never heard any mention of a forged FFL03. Can you provide link? Major reason there is the FFL E-Z check, to help validate licensees

Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk Not saying it is an every day thing, it isn't but one needs to be diligent when shipping firearms. In the past 6 years I've seen 2 forged class 1's and 2-3 class 3's The class 3 is easier for scammers because FFL E-Z check won't verify a 3, and most people won't bother to call the ATF, so I would imagine the 3 is used most often (but that is my guess). capt14k 2,051 Posted July 5, 2017 Can't say that I know that name........ He was the guy caught faking a German Captured wz29. Bought a scrubbed SCW wz29 and stamped away with Radom Roll Stamp and waffenampts. Almost made a $1,300 profit on the first one and was on his way to making a nice profit on the second one. Luckily he was caught before the first buyer sent payment and before the second auction ended. That's one good thing about Gunbroker and the internet. Makes it very easy to catch scumbags who buy something as one thing and then try and sell it as another. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
JT Custom Guns 956 Posted July 5, 2017 Oh - THAT guy? I remember reading about that a few weeks ago. The guy I was referring to was several years ago, not recent....
jackandjill 683 Posted July 5, 2017 Couple of months ago I almost shipped a firearm to a FFL near Chicago. Seemingly genuine transaction. The guy even sent me a FFL copy and his IL FOID. I called the FFL, he never heard of the guy. The address on FOID is not valid on any maps. Not exactly FFL forgery, but lot of things can go wrong.
