Persona non grata 113 Posted July 1, 2017 Quote Important Message: In the event of a state government shutdown, no NICS checks will be processed on Saturday, July 1, 2017. In addition, for the week of July 3, 2017, with the exception of the July 4th holiday, NICS checks will be processed on a limited basis in the order that they are received. Thank you for your patience and understanding. http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2017/07/christie_orders_shutdown_of_non-essetial_nj_govern.html#incart_2box_nj-homepage-featured https://www.njportal.com/NJSP/NicsVerification/ Hope no one had their sights set on a new addition to the family today. Wow, looks like the Shutdown is in effect. Fox News is running a "stock ticker" line on it. What happened? Were they not able to pass a budget or any CR's??? They did learn a lesson from the last shutdown with Corzine, the Casinos are open. And with the 4th of July on Tuesday most folks will probably roll the 3rd into a long week and not even give a shit or realize there is a shutdown next Wednesday (if it goes that long) when they try or need to conduct state business. 1 hour ago, siderman said: what happened? they spent too much time debating, deliberating and authoring the law to allow us to have fun with sparklers and forgot to look at the clock. no budget but we do have sparklers..... you broke the code it’s easier for the DEMs to grandstand on Pot, sparklers and more stupid gun laws than is it to actually tackle any of the real problems in this state. this should be fun to watch... But they do use the FBI, They just prefer to make the call to the FBI on behalf of the FFL. This, of course, to enforce State firearms laws (most likely, OGAM in NJ's case). Ah, the joys of being a "POC" (Point Of Contact) state. FL is also a POC state as well, via the FDLE. In FL (as opposed to NJ with the NJSP), patrol and investigative divisions at the state level are separate. The FHP does the patrol, and the FDLE does the detective/investigative work.
Rob0115 1,105 Posted July 1, 2017 I get they use the FBI and should have been more clear by saying directly.

capt14k 2,051 Posted July 2, 2017 Do we have a no answer rule in NJ? Isn't Fed if no answer in 5 days an automatic clearance? I'm sure we don't in NJ but figured I would ask. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
Indianajonze 379 Posted July 2, 2017 if this lingers through the holiday, we should sue. complete and utter bullshit. dems bankrupt the state, can't pass a budget, and as an added bonus eliminate the 2nd amendment? it cannot stand. there's a similar situation happening in the northwest (washington state i think). if the state wants to meddle with the nics process, then they need to make sure they can do it. otherwise, relent to the fbi
Walt of Destiny 412 Posted July 2, 2017 The progressives have thought of everything. Bankrupt the state, close the state parks on the holiday that celebrates our independence, and shut down the already unconsititutional "mother may I" system we are forced to use to exercise our rights. Imagine if this happened on Election Day... oh that would be racist. Citizens should charge the gates at state parks. I wonder how many speeding tickets are being written by njsp this weekend. Essential. Geezus we are a joke.
Walt of Destiny 412 Posted July 2, 2017 Come to think of it, these are nothing more than sanctions against the citizens of NJ. It only hurts the citizens, not the elites that were elected under the guise of being the "people's servants." it doesn't surprise me that they try. It surprises me that they succeed. This shit had never workes out for republicans. Even Gingrich's was ill advised. When will we learn. The only winner in this is Murphy.
Zeke 5,504 Posted July 2, 2017 Christie has Island Beach all to himself. Lol 70+ items on chopping block if Christie doesn't get horizon money. i say chop em! capt14k 2,051 Posted July 2, 2017 Will the 2A groups or Nappen file a federal lawsuit seeking relief for 2A violation? I would think a federal judge could force NJ to either open NICS or use Federal System directly.Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

The role the state police plays in all of this is exactly equivalent to Sigourney Weaver's character Gwen, on Galaxy Quest. Mindlessly passing information back and forth, while adding no value. But value to the State in that it helps them enforce things like OGAM.

Howard 538 Posted July 3, 2017 Just imagine if the state shut down or even slowed the processing of welfare checks! That is right, they would burn down the four big cities and riot.
WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot 358 Posted July 3, 2017 The last time this happened, Corzine ordered the 45,000 furloughed state workers to be paid anyway (a free vacation effectively). He ended up getting the 1% sales tax increase as well. Taxpayers always lose here.

Walt of Destiny 412 Posted July 3, 2017 They put up a drone to photograph the big guy sunning is fat ass on state park land. There is a pic of him looking right at the drone. Did he think it was an amateur doing that? Then he goes on and says he didn't get sun because he had on a baseball cap. As is said when this was looming, republicans are seen as the guilty party. People don't even know who the hell that 70's mustache asshole from the assembly is. This helps Murphy. No doubt.
