Saw Marine 1 with 2 Blackhawk escorts.

anybody else?

Didn't see a TFR issued, so POTUS wouldn't have been aboard (so the callsign wouldn't have been Marine 1).   Maybe training or other prep work for this weekend, when he's supposed to be back in Bedminster and huge swaths of airspace will again be restricted.  The charity poker run I was planning to fly just got cancelled AGAIN because of the flight restrictions.

I thought they they always flew 3 choppers when the POTUS was aboard.

Years ago I saw Reagan fly into the old Ryland Inn in Whitehouse on Rt 22. They all kinda circled around for a bit before landing. I saw no marking that would let anyone know which one was carrying him.

We all hung around for him to leave in a limo at driveway exit. They of course took the entrance drive out and we all had to run to get to see him. It wasn't really angled for an exit and the limo almost clipped my buddies car parked on Rt 22 trying to make the turn. He waved at us all and we were thrilled. SS in an open car behind him with weapons out. Then my buddy turns to me and says he was sure glad he didn't hit his car cause he still had the Luger he had shown me the day before under the front seat! That gun came within 3 feet of Ronny!

About 2 years ago I was in DC to see my cousin sworn in as a US Ambassador. We were drinking on a balcony in the State Department Building and watched 3 helicopters take off from the lawn of the White House, fly over the National Mall, past the Washington Monument, and over the Potomac to I can only guess Reagan International. Even though it was most likely Barry on board it was still an incredible sight.

Someone is in big trouble. Fastmover just went over my house a few miles north of Trump's golf course on what I assume can only be an intercept for violating restricted airspace.

Rec' f-22?

I live in Hopatcong and according to a news article I read there was a small plane which did not respond to radio hailing, so a Coast Guard helicopter (which I don't believe it was because of the coloring ) but it was a military helo, and a fighter jet came over to say hello. The jet did a 360 around my neighborhood then shot off towards Mt. Olive, which would put it in line with heading south toward Bernards Twp. It was low and very LOUD! First time I saw my tax dollars at work and I didn't really mind. It happened with the fighter the last time he was here too. I'm glad  that thing was on our side. I can't image how terrifying it must be to have that thing shooting at you. This thing was so low and loud, neighbors I haven't seen in 30 years were out in the street. I thought it was probably the coolest thing I've seen around here  since a hot air balloon came down in the trees about 20 years ago.

Best part about the house i Lived in when i lived in Israel.
There was a fairly large valley/mountain behind my house (Lived on the top/side of a mountain) where the Air Force would train. Used to see them "shooting" each other down with flares and stuff.
Almost blew our windows out a few times when they came down too low and too hot. The sonic boom they produce is insane.

Any chance you have a link to the article?  I've looked and found nothing...always happens.

Anything interesting I witness never makes it into the news, be it this, or some accident that closes down all highways in a 5 mile radius.  But a car getting a flat tire with 3 rubberneckers at 4AM seems to warrant a 1/4 page in the paper....

Our tax dollars weren't accomplishing much.   The 30 mile Temporary Flight Restriction that surrounds and follows whomever happens to be POTUS  inconveniences thousands of people, and puts small airports and flight schools on the verge of bankruptcy if they are unfortunate enough to be near a presidential vacation spot .   It's security theater, just like the TSA inspections at airports.   It's supposed to make people feel better, but it doesn't really do anything useful.

First, commercial airliners--you know, the only planes that have ever actually been used by terrorists to inflict damage--are essentially exempt from the regulations.    The average light plane, which might have 200 hp or so up front and be capable of almost-but-not-quite keeping up with a box stock Corvette, are the ones getting run down by all of that multi-million dollar military hardware.

Second, these intercepts often don't happen until the plane is right over the target.  In the photo in this thread, the plane is reportedly right over the golf course where Trump is a spectator.   A couple of times a weekend, a light plane flies right over Bedminster or Mar a Lago or Camp David or wherever the active TFR might be.   The military isn't preventing a light-plane threat from reaching the President, they are chasing away planes already shown to be non-threatening.  Is that really worth the enormous expense?

I'm not defending the pilots; TFRs are published (though sometimes on extremely short notice) and pilots are legally required to get a flight briefing before they fly--at which time they would be alerted to a TFR.   I am suggesting that the TFRs could be a lot smaller, and a lot less restrictive, without much impact on security, or the theater in which we view it.

Sounds like there is some kind of military jet flying around Bedminster again.

If you live in that area, you can expect a lot of that. I had scanned some article yesterday... something about him hosting a bunch of foreign dignitaries at his golf course, and pretty sure it was this upcoming week.

He's in Bedminster until Aug 20, so there is a 10 mile no-fly zone, and a 30 mile highly-restricted zone until then (and every time he visits).

It really sucks to be an airport, flight school, student pilot, or private pilot in NJ right now.
