Worse, your ass can be conscripted under the seldom used reserve reactivation clause. In simpler language, they'll draft you.
* lessee if anyone get it
** it's a real thing, albet HIGHLY unlikely it'd ever get used.
*** I think it's high time that every person at the age of 18 (or whatever we decide to change it to as delcaring you an "adult") be required to take the same type of oath as a right of passage to full citizenship.
I don't think this has the kill rate everyone is panicking about. I think the reported cases are lagging the deaths, so the CFR seems high. The China hospitals are overwhelmed, and just seeing and evaluating everyone running in, thinking they have the virus, is making them play catch up. Plus, the Chinamen have NEVER been transparent, so we really don't get true facts from them.
Where I see it can be an issue is in the incubation period. The CDC and NIH said it was around 14 days, I saw some others today saying up to 20, but that doesn't sound realistic. But, if the incubation is truly is up near that 14 day range, and reports are you become contagious to others a few days before symptoms show, you're spreading it to many other people for almost a week.
In the case with the China hospitals, infected people are sitting next to uninfected people (who think they have it) waiting their turn to be seen. Even for the people who test negative at that time, they walk away exposed by the positive person who was sitting next to them. Now, in a week or so, THEY are spreading the virus to others..
This is what needs to be watched!! The distance being traveled by the carriers, that's where the real trouble can take place. So, locking down the cities, and making people shelter in place, might be the only way to slow the spread in China.
