Boro vs Borough

Recommended Posts

Now I'm not born here. And obviously my spwelling laks accuracy, but....

im having a heated debate about boro and borough. Now as all of you know, borough is the correct term. But this knucklehead is under the remiss impression that boro is also appropriate.

what say ye?

borough me thinks. A burrow is a donkey

A burro is a donkey.  A burrow is a hole dug by an animal.

This is America. No Kings here and we sure aren't a Commnwealth nation or one of the Antipodes.

Are we going to start putting the Queen on our money, turning in our guns, drinking tea, and driving on the wrong side of the road as well?

Boro is as acceptable as Borough. Both are correct.

I believe "Boro" is short for "Borough,"   The later  being more "formal" and used in all "legal" documents, etc.  I once belonged to the "Tri-Boro" Ambulance Corps, representing the three towns,

  1)  "Borough of Park Ridge," NJ

   2) "Borough of Montvale," NJ

   3)  And "Borough of Woodcliffe Lake," NJ

In fact, I think the charter of the corps itself, lists the org's name as, "Tri Borough Volunteer Ambulance Corps."   But on all the uniforms, equipment, etc it's "Tri-Boro."

A taquito, tacos dorados, rolled taco, or flauta is a Mexican food dish that typically consists of a small rolled-up tortilla that contains filling, including beef, cheese or chicken. The filled tortilla is then crisp-fried.

That's a burrito

A burrito consists of a large wheat flour tortilla with a filling, wrapped into a closed-ended cylinder, in contrast to a taco, where the tortilla is simply folded around the filling.

Burrito is literally a 'little burro'.

I prefer the variety that consists of the tortilla and filling. Guacamole on the side, please.

Dont get me started on Mexican street tacos...
