New Toy Ruger Blackhawk

Recommended Posts

Just picked up this Ruger Blackhawk single action .357 61/2" BBL.  Serial #62323. 3 screw without the conversion done to it. Original receipt makes it out to be a 1965 model. Does anyone have more info on this model?  Haven't shot it yet but feels great.

Oh and in 1965 it retailed for $87.50.  My truck takes more than that to fill today!

Yes, definitely made in '65.  These models still have a safety recall about carrying on a loaded chamber.  Curious to know if this unit was changed or still original.  They still do the conversions and are supposed to return the original parts back to the owner.  You can change back on your own if you like, See Ruger's website for details. Originals have a pretty good value at the moment. Nice find BTW. Good Luck with it.  I enjoy mine

I would never send any of my 3-screw Blackhawks to Ruger for service.  They will install a transfer bar.  I have 3-screw and New Model Blackhawks and the trigger in the New Models are nowhere near as good as the unmodified 3-screw models. I just always "load 1, skip 1, load 4"  The hammer ends up resting on the empty chamber.

Also I'm told they hold better value without modification.
