ChrisJM981 924 Posted October 9, 2017 Any ideas? I checked the 39 species of NJ and the closest match is male black widow. Looking for a second opinion before I kill it with fire.

Handyman 5,682 Posted October 9, 2017 Once you see one, you know there's like 1000 eggs around. Fire the house. I had a spider problem once. I sprayed so much poison in my yard an elephant would die if it walked on my grass. Problem solved.

I'm no bug expert, but that spider doesn't look even close to the 20+ photos I looked at on the Internet. Doesn't look like a brown recluse either. If I remember correctly the male isn't dangerous, but I would think where there is a male there is a female... until she eats him.
Shane45 807 Posted October 19, 2017 I believe that to be correct. But out of the 50 or 60 black widows I have found, I only ever found 1 male!
