On which gun?

The hammer spring upgrade can be done on 92/96/M9 models. Below is a tutorial video by MrGunsnGear showing how to swap the hammer spring. In the video is a side by side comparison of the original hammer spring and the D spring version and the results using a trigger pull gauge.

Not sure about the M9A3.  I've heard that the trigger is already smoother and lighter.  Maybe someone else can compare who has more exp.

It seems that the D spring is already factory installed by Beretta. A 1911 forum member confirmed this in a post at the bottom of the page 1. You're GTG already!

Why?  I have M9A3 now.  I was thinking of adding a 92 Compact Inox or Vertec Inox.... I'm really digging the vertec grip

I hate the grip angle.  The corner is too sharp.  Add a 92FS and I'll sleep better.

Highly recommend replacing the hammer spring with a D version. Improves the trigger pull by making it lighter and smoother.

Just picked up a gently used 92A1.  I have the D spring and rubber stock grips coming soon. What do you do with the flexi composite captured guide rod?  Beretta has a steel captured replacement that is never in stock, and I see that Wilson Combat has a fluted one that can “retro” fit into the 92a1 with a flat 14lb spring. Thoughts?

My pistol was purchased in the late 1990's and was made in Italy. It was labeled as a stainless steel version which is now known to be the INOX. No comment on the guide rod as mine already came with the non-capture steel version when I bought it.

Leave it as is.

My new OD Green 92FS, and some spiffy lime green grips.

You can change the guide rod - I've used both the solid stainless and fluted - but I haven't had any issues with the plastic one either.

I changed mine more for cosmetic reasons.  I wanted the stainless version for my Inox.  I have the fluted version on my Wilson Combat.  My 92a3 has the stock guide rod and I have a 92S with the plastic one too.

@Ray Ray I missed a compact and now WC does do them any longer.  They are doing a full size frame compact slide with a 20 round mag.
