New Step Added To Pistol Permits

Recommended Posts

This must be brand new because I got permits less then 2 months ago in Woodbridge and it was the normal process and got them in 30 days...

I hope this is some miscommunication because I have never had any issues with Woodbridge on permits before and the two ladies that work in the permits department have always been on top of any issues and great with communication when I've dealt with them.

Yet another reason to say goodbye to NJ - they run amok of personal liberty of its law abiding citizens and could care less if *they* the powers that be, break the law....and willingly flaunt it in the face of its citizens.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.....

Yup!!! Ran out of NJ back in "04" and never looked back! I read some of these post and my head spins that I actually lived in a complete Socialist State where the citizens have Zero Rights.

I recently heard a radio commercial that was from the NJ AG's office explaining some new program to report rouge cops,  although they were in no linking it to these cops who make up their own laws on guns as they really dont give a shit but maybe we can use it for that as well as other firearm related things.     If I hear it again I'll write down what this program is called,  I checked their website but couldn't find anything.

I rarely visit NJ anymore due to the NJ Gestapo.
When you enter NJ from PA on the Turnpike it's very common to see half dozen Secret Service Police (NJ ST. Police) pulling cars over from Southern States. Especially those with NRA Stickers or Pro Gun Stickers. Then ya get your vehicle stripped for ZERO REASON!
Has one SS Agent make my daughter who was 5 yrs old at the time sit on the ground in 25* temps so he could search my SUV!!! Never said a word after he ripped my SUV apart just got in his car and left. This is why people dislike LEO!!!!
Ya love NJ!!! LOL!!!

Err .. hold on. One, I've never seen this border police you are speaking of, but maybe it exists. Secondly, did you ask them what was the probable cause for searching your vehicle?  I'm not sure they can do that unless they have a cause or you have granted them permission, so what was the cause they told you they had?

The first thing I did was ask did I do something wrong. I was met with silence, he asked to inspect my car I initially said NO, he then said he had the right to check my daughters car seat. He did mention my personalized L.P. as well as my LifeTime NRA sticker. Which is why she was removed and he told her to sit on the ground. From there he said he would detain me until he got a warrant and we would be there the entire day, after driving 10 hours I just said go ahead.
I have been back to NJ maybe 8 times in the 13 nearly 14 yrs since I have left and at least 5 times have seen 6 or so St Troopers sitting on the side of the road just as you get into NJ. by way of the turnpike. I at this point no longer see myself ever stepping on NJ soil again.

Unfortunately, I still have some family in Hunterdon County (Mom, sister and her family), and I might have to go back for a quick visit.  But when I do, there are things I can do to mitigate the risks... I can fly into LVI airport and rent a local car with Penn. plates, etc. I can enter NJ vi I-78 E (I never saw any patrols there)...  In and out (I'd stay locally in the Allentown/Bethlehem area).  And, for the above reasons, If I do drive my own car,  I don't put *any* decals for anything on my vehicle.  Not a single one.  Only my plate registration decal on the plate itself. I have generic "Sunshine Sate" plates (no IGWT or county, etc.) and not personalized at all.

Next time wait.  They count on scaring you into giving up your rights.    You want to play a game for a fishing exercise, get a warrant.

Unfortunately I was from NJ and remember hearing horror stories of what some of the Gestapo do to families. I remember them making a family kneel half naked on their lawn because of a gun violation someplace along the Jersey Shore.
It was cold, I was driving for 10 hours and knowing the way they act wouldn't put past them doing something like this to me and my kids.

I completely understand why you let them do it.  They know this too.   They have no PC, they will turn you loose after about an hour.  Call 911 and ask for a supervisor to come on scene and tell them that the cop is threatening you with arrest for no apparent reason.  911 calls get recorded and they must react and take it seriously.

But how would you do that if the LEO has already taken control of the scene and you? Do you really think said LEO would allow you to make any phone call(s) while they've stopped you (or have you "in detainment")? I do agree that one should never give consent to search... even if it means staying out there, cold & freezing, etc.  Suffer all the intimidation tactics but never give up, or give in.  If they don't have PC they can't do a legal search, and they know it. You just have to convince them that you know it also! And, it might also help to have some Go pros in/around your car that are concealed to collect evidence... evidence you can use against the LEOs when you sue for false arrest and/or illegal detainment, etc.

They can't seize your phone unless you are under arrest.  I suppose they can, it's just illegal.

They may not be able to seize it, but they might prohibit you from using it.  I could see a LEO arguing it as a safety issue (i.e. the detainee calling for "re-enforcements" against the LEO)... similarly to a LEO disarming someone who is carrying concealed. I could definitely see a LEO challenging its use during a stop for a number of reasons.

As someone who could be stopped, I certainly would not want to be making any "furtive movements" while stopped I would keep my hands in plain view, rather than fumbling around for a cell phone.  Who knows how the LEO might interpret those movements?

I was up a yr ago August for a funeral and did rent a car for the drive. Pretty sad that this is what has to be done just because you believe in the second amendment  in a Free America isn't it?
It's only in the socialist parts of the country this kind of thing happens, My license plate is my favorite weapon, I have pro gun stickers on my SUV and have zero problem here.
I have never been questioned here in all my yrs, even when someone from Up North called 911 on me and a few hunters because we had guns on our side at a local general store! The LEO ripped the callers for wasting his time.

I just couldn't imagine living in such fear of an inanimate object that one would call the law just because they see one. Just think of that for a minute!?!?

Which is why OC won't work in NJ even if it were signed into law, tomorrow. It will take some "cultural evolution/conditioning" to make it "effective."  The only weapons allowed to be displayed openly in NJ are those with a shield/star near it.  Otherwise, there would be a lot of "SWATing"  by citizens, and stops by LEOs.

I don't think NJ restricts open carry. If you have a permit to carry you can either open or conceal carry. At least legally that is true and the side effect is you will get to know lots of NJ Leo's up close and personal :-)

Update: I am not sure this statement is true so take it for what you paid for it. I searched for a NJ CCW and it included the word concealed. A couple of years ago I saw one in person but don't have any idea about the wording on it.

THe gestapo is out there eh?

I find it odd that have repeatedly crossed the border on I95 while in possession of a lead foot on numerous occasions and have not encountered any of them. You would think it would garner some attention.
