9X19 125 Posted November 21, 2017 I really want one Lol, but I'm pretty sure I can't. I hate being stuck here in NJ.
T Bill 649 Posted November 22, 2017 Mare's leg is legal, so why not this? It's not a SA handgun.
9X19 125 Posted November 22, 2017 Just now, T Bill said: Mare's leg is legal, so why not this? It's not a SA handgun. That was kind of what I was getting at. I believe it is classified as a handgun correct?
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted November 22, 2017 Why wouldn't it be legal? Works for me.
T Bill 649 Posted November 22, 2017 Correct, rifled barrels.
9X19 125 Posted November 22, 2017 So because it is rifled and not a smooth bore it is OK? Is that the difference?
GRIZ 3,365 Posted November 22, 2017 Would be a handgun in NJ. Can't see any reason it would be illegal. Can't see a lot of use for it either but I'd buy one if I has spare change.
9X19 125 Posted November 22, 2017 Correct no practical use but pretty damn cool. I have a BFR in 30-30 and it is one of my favorite revolvers Lol.

Smokin .50 1,907 Posted November 22, 2017 Cabela's has been sellin' them for years. They're available in many configurations, the most popular being smoothbore 20 ga. SxS. As legal as buying a Cap & Ball revolver & driving it across the Delaware. Lead shot, glass, rocks, nails, you can shoot it all .

Smokin .50 1,907 Posted November 22, 2017 ^^^Yep, it's a muzzleloader double barrel percussion. Got its' name from the basket placed on top of elephants, "Howda". Or as I like to refer to it, "Howda hell did I think this was a good idea?" Because it doesn't fire fixed, manufactured ammunition, it's not classified as a sawed-off shotgun. Federally legal in all 50 states.
9X19 125 Posted December 20, 2017 This one is not a muzzleloader.
Lawnmower2021 423 Posted April 12, 2023 Curious if anyone actually has one of these and what you think of it? Kind of tempted to get one in 410/45LC but seems too expensive to own and shoot... They sure are cool looking. https://www.davide-pedersoli.com/en/products/pedersoli-howdah
GRIZ 3,365 Posted April 12, 2023 The problem is shooting shotshells through this. The rifling makes shot spread quick!!! I tried shooting buckshot through a rifled barrel on my 870. Effective range was maybe 5 yds. Huge donut pattern.
maintenanceguy 509 Posted April 12, 2023 I have the Taurus Judge, 45LC/.40 revolver. Spread with shot shell is about 1" per foot of distance. It's a lot of spread but less than I had expected when I bought it. Since the gun being discussed here has a much longer barrel than my 3" revolver, I suspect the spread would be quite a bit less. The spread of shot is about the same regardless of barrel length.
