ranges that are CMP affiliates

Recommended Posts

With the pending release of the 1911's from the CMP does anyone know if a list of qualifying ranges exist,    I would think and HOPE that the recently built indoor  ranges in NJ  would be a good place for pistol qualification,  Woodland park, RTSP come to mind.    They are already FFL's so you can have them shipped right there.

I saw that list as well on the CMP site and it would appear that many are in schools, how do you bring your handgun into a school?

What would be my reception if I walked into North Plainfied high school tuesday morning carrying a M1 garand and inquiring as to the location of the rifle range

I think that this list is about 40 years out of date

This list is current, my bad is I published all the organizations enrolled.

You must meet their requirements for membership, an be a member, not just show up.  You join a club meeting their membership requirements and participate in their CMP program whatever  it is.  Easton Fish and Game is a CMP member.

If I remember correctly, ANJRPC's $40 non-range membership counts for the club requirement. I was thinking about a Garand a few months ago, and there were a few options for the rifle marksmanship requirement:

Quote
  • Current or past military service.
  • Current or past law enforcement service
  • Participation in a rifle, pistol, air gun or shotgun competition (provide copy of results bulletin).
  • Completion of a marksmanship clinic that included live fire training (provide a copy of the certificate of completion or a statement from the instructor). Visit https://ct.thecmp.org/app/v1/index.php?do=match&task=search to find an upcoming CMP sanctioned clinic or match.
  • Distinguished, Instructor, or Coach status.
  • Concealed Carry License.
  • Firearms Owner Identification Cards that included live fire training. - FFL or C&R license.
  • Completion of a Hunter Safety Course that included live fire training.
  • Certification from range or club official or law enforcement officer witnessing shooting activity. Complete the CMP Marksmanship Form to certify your range firing and the required marksmanship related activity for an individual to purchase from the CMP.

It doesn't seem like the pistol requirements are totally set yet, so I don't know if a hunter safety course would do the trick for the 1911s.

I figured that if I took the NJ shotgun hunter safety course, along with my ANJRPC membership, that I would have been golden. To note, I didn't get a Garand through CMP yet...other priorities.
