diamondd817 823 Posted January 6, 2018 Anybody know of any shops in NJ that do hard chrome plating on firearms? Specifically, I'm looking to have the aluminum frame of a Beretta 92 refinished in matte chrome.
Stuntman22 16 Posted January 6, 2018 Dave, Lou here. They are not in Jersey but I used CCR Refinishing on a Glock slide (26) in matte when they ran a special for 35 bucks. Its a Mom and Pop store and the number is 423 639-8924. Good Luck. Lou
Screwball 483 Posted January 6, 2018 I know for a fact CCR won’t plate alloy frames. They don’t strip anodizing, which should be done to plate.Don’t know anyone within NJ. I use CCR or Robar... but prefer CCR due to cost. Robar does my long guns and alloy frames.
diamondd817 823 Posted January 6, 2018 I was looking for local NJ hard chome refinishing because I don't want to ship the frame. I would have to ship it overnight and don't want to pay the expense. My next option would be Cerakote, which I know I can find locally in NJ.
bhunted 887 Posted January 6, 2018 I use these guys. http://www.apwcogan.com/They have my Colt Gov to bring back to orig splendor plus maybe some engraving. They do it all and not all cheap depending on job. Certain plating only works on certain metals. They do explain some of that online.Check their pricing or contact them. They provided me the shipping label and sent whole gun via Fedex. 4-6 week turn around I believe. Nice people.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Persona non grata 113 Posted January 7, 2018 It'll probably be difficult to find a place that does hard chrome in NJ due to the environmental issues associated with it, and even more difficult to find a place in NJ that will work on firearms. Out of state is probably your best bet. The coatings place we use at work for almost everything (anodizing, black oxide, nickel plate, etc) doesn't do chrome to my knowledge. TonyS. 12 Posted January 8, 2018 I'd give the guys at GSD in Keyport a call and see if they know anyone in case they don't do chrome. http://www.gsdcoatings.com

Slab Sides 20 Posted January 30, 2018 I'd be making sure whoever does the chrome plating has done firearms before. I've seen some nasty chrome jobs where they get carried away with the buffer and all your edges and detail are gone.
