CageFighter 236 Posted January 18, 2018 with all this new political headache coming from Czar Phil, is it worth starting a new FFL? I have found a location and can try to pull it off. any thoughts?
DirtyDigz 1,793 Posted January 18, 2018 It’s possible that compliance work and ammo sales may sustain a business for the next 4+ years.
tattooo 220 Posted January 18, 2018 Why wouldn't you ? If we lived our lives in fear on what if the next elected official possibly does we would either get nothing done or make rash decisions. Go for it.
NJLEFTY 7 Posted January 18, 2018 Is it possible to get an FFL license anymore.I would think NJ would make it impossible. Why start a business we just need an FFL for members to ship their firearms to and prob soon we will need it to have ammo shipped to. When i lived in Bklyn i used to have them shipped to a guy in LI who had an FFL and he did the transfers out of his house for a small fee i think it was $25. T Bill 649 Posted January 18, 2018 While difficult to get, it can never be stopped. Only question would be does the expense of ownership justify it. Ah, I know forming an LLC is a new way apply for a Federal FFL. Don't know how NJ laws look at this. Could be worth investigating. Don't forget NJ will require local zoning board approval as well. MartyZ 691 Posted January 18, 2018 I wanted to do just that, and run the business out of my house about 5 years ago. Called NJSP, and was told, no problem, just fill out the forms and if ATF approves, they will approve. But was told to check with the township first. That is where I hit a brick wall. Apparently Manalapan does not allow a store front business to be run outside of a dwelling, even though Englishtown, Marlboro, and all other surrounding townships allow it. If you are willing, I would say go for it. Just like any other business, just as long as you are willing to put in the time, effort, and money. I wish you luck if you decide to pull the trigger. GRIZ 3,365 Posted January 18, 2018 Keep in mind you're going to have to get sales tax certificate, business licenses, liability insurance, and a bunch of other things to set yourself up as a business.
