HBecwithFn7 296 Posted January 22, 2018 The list came out in Nov., 2017 and was published on-line in December, 2017. Guns & Ammo - 2017 Best States for Gun Owners List - Some of the Highlights for this year - #1 - As always, Arizona, unchanged. #51 thru 44 saw a slight change - from 2016 (DC, NY, Mass, NJ, HI, CF, CT, MD in that order) - Mass dropped below NJ to #49. FL regained the #12 Spot, this year! Up 1 from #13. They cited the change in SYG - Proof shifting back to the prosecution. AK regained the #2 Spot from Kansas. Citing deletion of the Alaska requirement for a CLEO signature for NFA items. TX, VT, PA and IL steady at 8, 20, 33 and 40 respectively. Hope it helps! stuckinNJ 81 Posted January 22, 2018 Quote 48. New Jersey Life for gun owners got just a little bit better in 2017 thanks to Governor Chris Christie. The administration implemented a recommendation that will better define the “need” requirement of the Garden State’s “may issue” CCW law. Up until now, it was virtually impossible for an ordinary citizen to obtain a permit in New Jersey and the state does not recognize the permits of any other jurisdiction. Permits, known as FIDs, are required to purchase firearms and there is no right to bear arms in the state’s constitution. Technically, full-autos and certain AOWs are legal in New Jersey but ownership requires approval from the state and, well, good luck with that. Suppressors, SBRs and SBS are banned altogether. The state has a partial Castle Doctrine statute in-place. This is all inaccurate. The Legislature quickly undid that "recommendation" and Christie is gone leaving the state to Murphy who will sign every new gun control bill headed his way. I'd say by the time he's done, we'll be worse than DC, NY and MA where it's at least possible to get CCW in parts of those states. I really believe we would be well suited at #51 because we'll have all the new AWB stuff that those states have PLUS zero CCW statewide.

Actually, it is a little better, as there are some counties in CA that will issue CCW permits. There are none in NJ, unless you know the judge, CLEO, and are a VIP, etc. That, and the fact that NJ is about to get a whole lot worse...
