Trump tells Congress forget CCW reciprocity

Yes, I thought she was going to cream her crusty old cooter.  The hand wringing, literally wringing her hands like a stereotypical villein.  Trump is familiar with all the arguments against banning AR type rifles and could have smacked her down, but he let her have her moment.

I stand by my original statement.  Trump ran casinos and I'm sure he is intimately familiar with Game Theory.  The bells and whistles are ringing and the left thinks they are winning, but in reality, they are loosing just a little more every time they pull the lever.  They will never win the jackpot because the game is rigged against them.  He's playing them for suckers.

Right now, Trumps approval rating is above Obama's at the same point in his presidency.  He's killing it, still winning. MAGA bitches

Many ideas, some good & some not so good, emerged from our bipartisan meeting on school safety yesterday at the White House. Background Checks a big part of conversation. Gun free zones are proven targets of killers. After many years, a Bill should emerge. Respect 2nd Amendment!

Listen to it again...i thought the same. He doesn't want it packaged with other gun regulations in fear that nothing would get passed. He did say he's on the side of passing National carry but would like it to come through on its own bill.

While he said adding it will never get the bill passed, it also implies CCW won't pass on it's own either. I've been telling people, Trump is no friend of ours. If anyone still has doubt about this after yesterday, I have a bag of dog shit that turns to gold if you step on it. I'll sell it to you for only $100.

We’re not ditching any constitutional protections simply because the last person the president talked to today doesn’t like them,” Senator Ben Sasse, Republican of Nebraska, said in a statement

Trump seems to be influenced by the last person he talks to.  I've heard and read this before.  I think he intentionally comes across as a yes man to get people to lower their guard and talk more.  It's a very old tried and true sales strategy.  Just because he is nodding does not mean he agrees.  He's proved that time and again.

I watched the entire discussion. Trump is setting up the left for chumps. They may get a few bones in the comprehensive bill but they ain't gonna get what they really want. Just wait. Meanwhile, he is stacking mad chips on popularity on the left and left of center coming across as reasonable.

It's mind boggling how some of you give Trump that much credit, and still think he has our best interest in mind....

I cannot speak for the later part of that, but giving too little credit and dismissing his talent is the BIGGEST mistake Dems and MSM made and continue to do so.

If he added CCW to this so called comprehensive bill, the Dems would accuse him of putting in a "poison pill" to stop any progress.  He's right.  If CCW was added, the comp bill would go nowhere, which I'm sure would delight many.  But Trumps game is to let the dems and repubs paint themselves into a corner.  He's setting up the argument in such a way that it will be forced to naturally arrive at several conclusions.  The first conclusion is that allowing teachers and staff that already have a ccw, and training, be allowed to ccw in school to protect children.  Once that passes then we can argue, but what about my children in my car, why can't I protect them.  Once that happens, we'll have a solid legal foothold to argue constitutional shall issue ccw and national reciprocity.

Feinstein was seated next to Trump. He had her eating out of his hand.

Donald Trump is the first World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Famer to become President. The story line was carefully choreographed.

He is holding out hope to 84-year old Dianne Feinstein. Her last hope.

But (fortunately) her hope will be dashed.

The Democrats would filibuster anything with CCW reciprocity, even if it has everything else that they say that they want.

Need 60 Senate seats to get CCW. (It IS possible.) Need at least one more SC Associate Justice (and probably two) to get rid of those stupid NJ gun laws.

This is about November.

Why people think we need more laws to fix this problem blows my mind.  The failure here was with the Broward county sheriff's office and the FBI.  18 year old men and women have been buying guns for decades. Even the AR-15.  Trade NOTHING. There's NOTHING to negotiate. Fix the FBI and the Broward county sheriff's office.  That's the way I see it.   My God what's going to be traded away next for a deal? Glocks?

That is incorrect. We don't need 60 votes if the RINOS have a backbone and invoke the 2 speech rule.

Can someone cue up or find the exact language that Trump used for

"the president accused him (Pat Toomey) of fearing the N.R.A.". If it went down like the article said it did Trump crossed the line.

He accused Toomey and Manchin of fearing the NRA along with many others but says they don't control him. Unless the Pro 2A Senators were in on it Trump is a turncoat.

He doesn't want the national ccw bill in with this because he knows anything with an AWB ban attached to it has no chance of passing.

This is the perfect time to push for national CCW. Always bragging about great deal making and negotiating blah blah blah....Anything has a chance of passing if both sides give something.

Who only gives but receives nothing in a negotiation especially when the argument of more armed good guys / gals would help with the deterring or stopping bad guys / gals with guns makes complete sense and would help in working to solve the problem.

Everyone said Obama was coming for our guns ?? Republicans control all 3 branches and I am more worried now of our 2A rights then the entire 8 years of the past administration.

7:50 Trump is going to circumvent Congress and Constitution by eliminating bump stocks. Thought he was going to overturn the Unconstitutional EO's of Obama. He overturned a couple meaningless EOs and now is adding his own.

It’s all amount the midterms. Democrats gained momentum in the last 3 weeks. Today was an attempt to undercut that and keep them from riding it until November.

I agree - you need to take the wind out of the proverbial sails - and playing against the NRA is just what he has to do.

Sadly there will be sacrifices - unless every single goddamn gun owner wants to go to the mattresses - and we arent there - yet...

It’s not completely clear what those sacrifices would actually be. As is typical he is talking out both sides of his mouth on this issue.

When the goal is derailing an emotional groundswell throwing the illegitimacy of their argument isn’t always a good tactic. Defusing the situation by making it look and sound like you’ll think about is better. Later, when things settle, the rational response will fly better or a more beneficial scapegoat (like democratic obstructionism) may present itself.

Or he could be turning on us and we should all panic.

At heart he is a salesman and he will f*ck you as soon as look at you...and smile about it - trust not one of them
