GunDeals on Reddit banned

Recommended Posts

Reddit had a great sub /r/gundeals that was fantastic for finding sales or getting feedback on what appears a good deal.

Reddit recently updated their terms and prohibited subs that supported transactions on firearms. The /r/gundeals sub and others like it have been nuked.

combine that with the BS going on YouTube and it is very concerning.

Depends. If you call the media these lieing talking heads the spew any bullshit for ratings then no. If you include the incredible influence the internet giants have in the media mix then I guess yes.

Funny, I was watching "the news" and the reporter was talking about the Russian election, if that's what you want to call it.  The reporter was saying that Putin has a huge amount of support by Russia, something like 75%.  They pan back to the studio and the guy says something like "don't ever underestimate the power of state run media."  Like, that's not what's happening in the U.S.?

The gubbmint runs them and allows them to operate with relative impunity.  They offer benign or favorable reporting on the effectiveness of the gubbmint thereby convincing the populace to approve and enact their will.  Gah!!!

I'm not a tin foil hat wearing kind of guy, but c'mon!!!

ah just wait. reddit is only the beginning. the entire firearm community, users and manufacturers, will be wiped from social media by the start of summer. instagram, facebook, twitter, youtube, all of it. that will be act 1. for act 2 i'd like everyone to recall a year or so ago a story whereby some very anti-gun company was going around buying up all of the gun forums, including this one. nobody cared, nobody worried. business as usual. act 2 is going to be fun

I think from matty’s post on down pretty much explained the theme here. I would just add the lefties have the wind to the backs on this and seem to be pumping a lot of money into it. I was watching  Laura Ingraham the other night and she said it’s the usual cast of characters like Soros & Bloomberg funding the upcoming march. Then she also said George Clooney and Oprah wrote checks as well.

Since we are reminiscing like Indianajonze has mentioned lets go back to the American Sniper movie which drove the left nuts. You have Bradley Cooper portraying U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (like Cooper was some kind of good guy) and he was front and center during the Clinton campaign so Cooper is also no friend of 2A. Here’s my view on Hollywood and the media, Anyone Hollywood lefty that’s anit 2A that’s ever been in a movie that’s made a single dime off a film that’s had a firearm in it don’t get to have it both ways. Either they should either STFU or give ALL their profits away from those films and then and only then do they get to complain

Seems a lot of 2a supporting redditors will be moving to www.voat.co/v/gundeals

From what little I know about voat, it is reddit without any rules so it has been a hotbed for racism, sexism, etc.

What pisses me off about reddit is that r/gundeals (legal 3rd parties making legal sales that you have to pick up at legally regulated FFLs) is prohibited, but r/opiates, r/stims, and even r/weeddeals is up and running without threat of being shut down. Shows where the left's priorities are. The website owners have every right to pick and choose but gd seriously drug sales are ok?

Apparently cigars are considered a prohibited good now too.

cigars (cigarmarket), pipetobacco, beer trade, etc.  they shut down a huge part of reddit.  I'm a moderator of the /r/cigars subreddit... it's going to kill the userbase/content.

Perfect opportunity for the NRA to step up and take over all this stuff. It would probably also help increase thier member base. In the grand scheme of things server space is cheap. Let them host fora and videos.

Redditt has sucked for awhile that is why there is voat and 4chan

Still weird how an anime forum based off of the Japanese Futaba Channel has become this weird counter culture hub, and has had such an impact on the world.

Either way 4chan is an interesting place, and while "oldies" (not going to use the actual term for fear of offending people), complain about "newbs", the overall board hasn't changed much over the years.904d5407a6cdffff3cabcd86ef1ec940.jpg

Both Cesspools.....

Why because they aren't full of censorship? Actually even 4chan has been guilty of censorship. Voat is censor free. A Mods job is to try and direct and add to a conversation, not to delete posts and censor. Someone doesn't want to read something don't. Someone doesn't want to get in an argument don't respond.

Forum Mods and Admins can convince themselves that users and activity is down because of Facebook and other social media, but the truth is adults don't want to be censored, and no one that is Pro 2A is going to stand by while 1A is trampled. They will simply just move on. Eventually the forums are left with the Mods and a few die hards discussing the weather.

I've seen the communities on VOAT - not something I want to be a part of... the best thing about reddit /r/cigars and pipetobacco and the other subs is the community involvement - trades/gifts/meetups/etc.  Reddit's killing the whole thing.

I just read that some gun sites are even moving to PornHub (yeah, just read today) Here's the problem: strategically, I believe keeping the 2A "alive and healthy" means bringing young kids into the shooting sports. If you agree, just ask yourself, would you want your daughter on some of these sites you're talking about? Because if kids get into shooting, as tech-savvy as they are these days, you know they're going to be all over the shooting-related websites.

Recalling from other threads that you're a protective parent who wants your kids to enjoy the innocence of youth for as long as possible (which I respect btw), I'm guessing your answer is "No, I would not want them on those sites". And that's the conundrum! I think it's perfectly understandable why many forums want a relatively G-rated "family friendly" vibe on their public-facing sections. Without youth recruits, the 2A is dead within a couple of generations.

Besides, I'm feeling resentful about this whole "push" to demonize gun owners and drive the shooting sports underground as though it's equivalent to pedophilia or some other wierd sexual fetish. Give me a break! We shouldn't just go along with that agenda without a fight. Actually, I think @Handyman's idea is a stroke of brilliance. The NRA should absolutely provide a viable hosting alternative. It would be a really smart move... and it would keep information about the shooting sports accessible to the widest possible audience, as it should be.

I don't think forums are a place for children. I especially wouldn't allow them on voat. This forum is also not a place for children. So no my children aren't allowed on them. Being they aren't places for children Mods need to stop stroking their ego and censoring.

I think NRA having sites is also a great idea. If a forum wants to be G rated then no posts about alcohol, tobacco, or any other such thing. This forum can not pretend it wants to be G rated when they have plenty of non-firearms related posts and topics that are not for children. So either be a G rated family place and censor like crazy, or stop with the censorship. Censorship will only lead to the fall of this forum as it has others.

I think the public-facing forums here should ABSOLUTELY be a place where some 15-year-old on a Jr Rifle Team should be able to pop in and post a question, etc... I think we as a community (metaphorically) shoot ourselves in the foot if we block that youth pipeline. Eh, we can agree to disagree on this point! :)

Ok that is fine then make the forum a place for kids. No posts about what are you drinking tonight. Make access to 1A restricted by not posting the password publicly. No talk about cigar smoking or sex either. Lock up Daily Humor and Walking Dead Threads too. Purely gun related posts only in the main section and everything else has to be posted in 2A. Then you can say it is for 15 year olds too. Also remove the requirement that you are 18 to sign up for the forum as most have (I forget if this one does but I am guessing it does).

For the record I am fine with main section being G rated, but do it all the way not halfway, and stick to the rules. Mods will have a reason to censor if main forum is going to be G rated.

Hey, that wouldn't bother ME at all! I'd have no problem behaving myself in a G-rated forum.

But I'm guessing your point is that some of the boys on here might be devastated if they couldn't freely talk about sex... and smoking cigars... and drinking, etc. etc. Man, you guys got a lot of vices.
