I'm sorry I missed you. I grabbed one of the red NRA signs. I propped it on the steps where I was seated... frozen in place like a human popsicle, lol. Oh, damn, it was C-O-L-D. (Thanks btw to @Smokin .50 who passed me a pair of those chemical hand warmers - that helped).

So, let's talk turkey.

  • As others have mentioned, can we try this again in warm weather? On a Saturday? With 4 mos  notice... and lots of advance communications/press coordination? I'd like to see 10,000 in attendance... and I'm quite confident it could be done. Hell, I'd even volunteer my time to help with that. I'm sure many of us would.
  • There's categories of speakers or at least participants I'd like to see more of: 1) more young faces (scouts, jr rifle league members), 2) a national/Olympic shooting champion or 2, 3) speakers with their own horror story of government overreach (Shaneen Allen, etc.), 4) some people with DGU stories, 4) an NRA headliner speaker - Dana Loesch? Colin Noir?.etc.
  • Can we brainstorm any signs/t-shirts well in advance, pre-print them, deliver them in advance? Maybe even have lawn stakes that people can pick up afterwards to get a second life from the same sign by displaying it in their yard?
  • I could go on... and on... an on. I'm TOTALLY glad to see what happened today... to see the people who showed up... and stood up for individual freedoms. Because that's really what it's all about. That said, I walked away convinced that we have to think MUCH, MUCH bigger.
  • If nothing else, while the 2A org's hopefully let the injunctions and lawsuits fly, each of us can do 2 things: 1) recruit more people into the shooting sports (just "bring a guest" - how hard it that?), and 2) help make sure the abuse and over reach we're seeing from Murphy's administration is burned into the consciousness of every voter we meet. We have 3+ years to get that done. IMO, the time to plan the summer rally is RIGHT NOW. That's how I see it.

Did you share with @Gunsrlegal she was a popsicle!

Hope you're right Zeke.  I listened to the debate in the assembly today and the D's are completely deaf to any pro-gun argument.

One of the D. legislators had a kid next to him who led the walkout in her school as a prop for support of his bill.

Good rally, but I wish we could have gotten more! With 1 million gun owners, I don't see any reason why we shouldn't get at least a few thousand people. Of course, I was able to get a spot in the Lafayette garage, so maybe I shouldn't complain? :p Oh, and I agree that it was cold! I wore wool socks, thermals, a waffle henley, fleece, jacket, gloves and a winter hat, and I was still cold until I was able to get into the sun!  Maybe I should move to another state for the warmer weather instead of just the guns?

And that takes years.  Laws get passed in months, take years to reverse.

Look how long it took for the stun gun un-ban to take effect, and NJ *conceded* on that one.

For all the good that one wound up doing for us!

That’s what injunctions are for.

     f.     The heir or estate of an owner of a firearm which has been registered pursuant to this section shall within 90 days after the owner’s death dispose of that firearm in accordance with section 5 of P.L.        , c.     (C.        ) (pending before the Legislature as this bill)1

1[6.] 8.1     This act shall take effect immediately.

So you need not give up the 1860 Henry Rifle that your great, great, great grandfather carried at Gettysburg -- but you do need to pay $50 and register it?

But the passing down stops at you, unless your kids leave NJ.

So if you have one of the so designated firearms, a FID or permit to purchase becomes a *requirement* to legally own it.

SO...........We have 180 days to comply and must have a FID card will make Felons out of all those when their PD take longer than 180 days to issue the permit!

Apples and oranges

When fair weather 2A fuckers try to undermine US, I will call them out.  Just like WE did to the CEO of Daniel Defense, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Springfield Armory.

You are assuming they even have a registration process within 180 days of the bill being signed. Remember the process and documentation don’t even exist yet. I would hate to be the test case for the first person that has one of these registered for more then 10 round guns that gets pulled over. You are going to jail while they sort it out :(

The State Police have a hard time figuring out what the legal way to transport is, you think they are going to have a clue about case by case over 10 round firearms? It’s going to be a cluster fk.

@Mrs. Peel and I discussed these points as we drove home from the rally. I understand that we don't have the type of $$$$-backing the "kids" are getting from people like Soros and Bloomberg, but we need to find ways to increase our numbers in front of the cameras. Rally on a weekend. Lead-time, coordination, and communication are key. Everyone in matching shirts so we look like a cohesive "team." Going on the theory that the country's gun laws may only be as strong as its weakest link (NJ?), maybe try to get some gun manufacturer(s) to donate some $$ to the NJ cause. I don't think another rally has to be tied to a specific legislative vote, we need to show numbers. We might make a better point by rallying a couple of months prior to an election/primary cycle. I admit that I don't have any answers, but I know that people who know a helluva lot more about this than I do busted their butts to organize today's rally and they did a great job. I'd be willing to help in any way I can with any future planning.
