No excuse to not be in Trenton tomorrow. And yours truly will be the MC!

     17.  (New section) a.  A person who legally owns a firearm with a fixed magazine capacity holding up to 15 rounds which is incapable of being modified to accommodate 10 or less rounds and was purchased on or prior to the effective date of P.L.      , c.    (C.        ) (pending before the Legislature as this bill) shall register that firearm within one year from the effective date this act. In order to register the firearm, the owner shall:

     (1) complete a registration statement, in the form to be prescribed by the Superintendent of the State Police;

     (2)  pay a registration fee of $50 per firearm; and

     (3) produce for inspection a valid firearms purchaser identification card, permit to carry a handgun, or permit to purchase a handgun.

     b.    The information provided in the registration statement established pursuant to subsection a. of this section shall include, but shall not be limited to:  the name and address of the registrant; the number or numbers on the registrant's firearms purchaser identification card, permit to carry a handgun, or permit to purchase a handgun; and the make, model, and serial number of the firearm being registered.  Each registration statement shall be signed by the registrant, and the signature shall constitute a representation of the accuracy of the information contained in the registration statement.

     c.     An applicant shall register the firearm in the law enforcement agency of the municipality in which the applicant resides or, if the municipality does not have a municipal law enforcement agency, any State Police station.

     d.    Within 60 days of the effective date of P.L.     , c.    (C.      ) (pending before the Legislature as this bill), the superintendent shall prepare the form of registration statement as described in subsection b. of this section and shall provide a suitable supply of statements to each organized full-time municipal police department and each State Police station.

     e.     One copy of the completed registration statement shall be returned to the registrant, a second copy shall be sent to the Superintendent, and, if the registration takes place at a municipal police department, a third copy shall be retained by that municipal police department.

     f.     The heir or estate of an owner of a firearm which has been registered pursuant to this section shall within 90 days after the owner’s death dispose of that firearm in accordance with section 5 of P.L.        , c.     (C.        ) (pending before the Legislature as this bill)1

1[6.] 8.1     This act shall take effect immediately.

So you need not give up the 1860 Henry Rifle that your great, great, great grandfather carried at Gettysburg -- but you do need to pay $50 and register it?

Not that I planned on complying anyways, but it looks like 20 round FN-49 mags are not covered.

After having attended todays rally I must say it was extremely disappointing seeing how many people showed up.

I thought Anthony did a great job but both my wife an I were shocked at the size of the crowd. I understand that not everyone has the luxury of taking off of work to attend these things but there were only a few hundred people there.

It appears that gun rights are basically a lost cause in this state.

Both my wife and I have always tried to support the various second amendment advocacy groups here and we do take the time to write our legislators and urge our friends to do the same.

Based on todays turn out we cant help but feel that we have just been wasting our time and money.

We I would like to say thank you to Anthony for trying to light a fire and get people motiviated but New Jerseys gun owners just dont care enough to put forth even the smallest effort to defend their rights.

Sad but true.

Does anyone truly believe these rallies are going to get bigger and better with the fractured 2A organizations in this state and the same people running them with the measly dollars coming from the NRA?

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result.

There needs to be a complete overhaul of our side in NJ. I spoke to plenty of gun owners and Pro 2A people that had no idea there was even a rally today.

Great day today.  Great turnout.  According to the NJ101.5 article, the NJSP estimated 2000 turnout.

Personally I think that's a little generous but we'll take it.

Lots of great people met.  Great speakers.  Great 2A cigars smoked.  Glad to see a lot of you out there.

My back/neck is shot to hell but still totally worth it.

And that takes years.  Laws get passed in months, take years to reverse.

Look how long it took for the stun gun un-ban to take effect, and NJ *conceded* on that one.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this line was in A2761:

h.    Stun guns.  Any person who knowingly has in his possession any stun gun is guilty of a crime of the fourth degree.

So much for the un-ban.

They can't make a law that is already ruled Unconstitutional. No matter how many times they write it. They need to appeal it to change it

The heir or estate of an owner of a firearm which has been registered pursuant to this section shall within 90 days after the owner’s death dispose of that firearm in accordance with section 5 of P.L.        , c.     (C.        ) (pending before the Legislature as this bill)1

So if I am reading this correctly, this registration is a form of confiscation!!

Not anymore florida is starting to go down and PA also.

I added for now, but you were too quick.

The disease is spreading and spreading quickly, but from what I can see little are willing to make the changes that are needed to stop it.

Thank you and welcome to reality. In all fights it is always the few that do the heavy lifting for the majority.

This sounds like a back door gun registry to me.  Pay $200.00 per AR15, which I assume we have to identify, and they know you have 4 AR15s.  A good constitutional lawyer should be able get a permanent injunction.  They say it's to register the mags but we all know that's bullshit.  It's a gun registry.
