Let me be the first to welcome you to the Jacksonville area.  Hopefully you will be voting the right way to help slow the decay of our state.

Little danger of not voting the right way. I'm an independent but the last time I voted for a Democrat was 1972. I'm not likely to make that mistake again.

(At least not deliberately. That's unless you find me in a nursing home with an "I Voted!" sticker.)

I am about to flee for the Jacksonville area as well, but no way am I keeping any property or ties to the socialist people’s republic of New Jermany.

The problem is that Florida weather is intolerable for 3 months of the year. (In that way, Florida is much like New Jersey, it's just a different 3 months.)

We were looking at houses here in New Jersey but closer to the beach. Than Sandy happened. We were told that one house we had liked had 4 foot waves in the living room.

Which scared the willies out of us.

Most recently, Trump's tax reform capped the deductibility of SALT. If I'm going to waste my money, I can think of better things to waste my money on than a bloated, inefficient government.

I'm not sure Murphy will be able to get another AWB... remember Sweeney has to bring it to the floor.

He's making a point to say we are not that progressive on a lot of Murphys agenda.

its also the Progressives that tried to take him out... He might want to be more Moderate at this point.

It amazes me what a big deal so many people are making of the SALT deduction change.  Yea it caps those deductions, but with the higher standard deduction an awful lot of people that think they will be itemizing will actually be taking the standard deduction which does not let you deduct any of those state and local taxes.  Further, even with the loss of the deductions that tax rates are all lower by about 2% points across the board.  Even in the socialist people's republic of New Jermany a majority of people will be paying the same or less in Federal taxes than before the changes.  The good thing is this change should put pressure of the leftists in Trenton to do something to reduce taxes or the exodus will continue.  I have never seen more houses for than this year.  I just accepted a contract on mine and can't wait to get the hell out of this state.

Congrats, Howard! I hope the sale goes through smoothly. I can't recall though... where are you heading?

Thanks. Jacksonville area, not exactly sure where. Guess we will be homeless for a while :)

I know a lot of dems who balked at at the proposed tax plans. Unfortunately instead of voting against the idiocy, they simply abstained. Perhaps they will figure out that abstaining won't stem the bleeding.

This is the biggest issue with our silly two party system. If you disagree with the party, you don't get in their way and stand up to them. Because sticking it to the other side is more important than sticking up for what is right.
