Brazilian Mausers

Recommended Posts

Figured I would share something here. There are a handful of people on this forum have to be as tired of shotguns and black rifles as I am.

My Growing Brazilian Mauser Collection

All are All Matching except the 1922 Brazilian Carbine which is Bolt (but not all bolt parts), Floorplate, Trigger Guard and other small parts matching.

Top to Bottom

1908 Long

1922 Carbine

1908-34 Short

1935 Long

1935 Short

I apologize for the poor lighting.434eca183d5001cd3191a2e39ef0761a.jpg

Here are some close up shots of my favorite in the group 1935 Brazilian Short one of only two proven to be all matching left. The other is in Germany. There was less than 1,000 to begin with and they were used hard and rebuilt often, unlike the 1935 Brazilian Long which many were returned unused and many are in collections today still Unissued with all original matching accessories.

What do you do to bring out the engraving marks so prominently?  Is there a white paste or something?
I didn't do it. I bought it like that. However people use white crayon or white chaulk

If you to make it more permanent use white nail polish and wipe the excess off after it dries.
Some use a type of paint too, but be careful buying from people who color the numbers. Make sure you know them well or they have a return policy. Especially on German Mausers. It is an old trick to hide renumbered parts on a humped rifle.
