I have a basic question about shotguns that I can't find an answer to despite how simple it probably is. Why do some shotguns have that full stock/butt but others don't have this stock and appear to have the same grip that a pistol does?

Is this just an aesthetic preference or does having the full stock help with accuracy or recoil and stuff like that? It would appear that the stock helps as people seem to rest it on the front of their shoulder when they aim if I'm assuming correctly.

Actually, on my 870, I have both, with this ShurShot stock. I think it just depends on your preference and how you want to hang on.

Depends on personal preference...

If we are talking pistol grip only, I actually prefer the Raptor grip over a traditional pistol grip nowadays. Just feels a little more comfortable. The brace setup on my TAC-14 uses a regular pistol grip, but I do have a standard grip, if need be.

For stocks, I like something like a Magpul stock. Rather have something more inline with the receiver/barrel.

Shotgun stocks are a wide area of exploration.  On estate-quality shotguns such as the Krieghoff K-80 one can drop 5 grand plus for just a stock & fore end upgrade to a nicer wood :)   Adjustable combs, adjustable butts, everything you need to get the perfect fit.  And shotgun FIT is everything!

    • In 50 years of living in NJ I've never experienced any attempt to inspect the interior of the home, and only one definite inspection of the exterior for an announced reassessment of all properties and that was a drive by. About 9 years of that was living in an apartment, but still, uncommon. Every place I lived had either a finished attic, basement, or both. But they were also included in the habitable square footage on the taxes when we got there.

Murphy lied just to get elected when he said that seniors will get a significant tax break with his StayNJ" program to stop us from leaving.   Keep voting for democrats...this is what you get.  Tax and spend is all they know.  Never cut anything.  This state sucks.
