New Jersey and Gun Control

Yes, it would be. And if it's paid by (1, 2, 5 ...?) some low number of people it's a pointless exercise. Because arresting, prosecuting and incarcerating under nn (pick a number) people is a low price for the state legislators to pay to enforce their will on you.

Last year New Jersey housed 19,453 inmates state wide. If 50,000+ NJ gun owners chose to break the law by deliberately committing a process crime (waving that 15-round mag) and subject themselves to the legal and penal system, what do you think they would do? Triple the budget? Build three times as many cells? Jam 50 to a room?

Or would they reconsider the results of their laws?

Their whole gun control scheme is premised on 1. You'll capitulate and/or 2. You'll go underground, and they'll pick off individuals one at a time to scare the hell out of the rest.

They are not prepared to handle mass disobedience.

If only six people had showed up in the 60's to sit at that white lunch counter or in the front seats of the bus, there might not be any civil rights law.

*SIGH*

The gun control scheme is not about guns. They don't give a shit about you obeying the law. They give a shit about silencing gun owners as a political force and taking them off the table as a voting block. Period. (well form the politicians' perspective).

You are right they are not prepared to handle mass disobedience. They make a law, they don't enforce it well. This is the hsitory of gun control to date, why would even larger scale stupidity be any different. Look at the SAFE act. They didn't even go looking to make examples. You get caught in the machine, it'll grind you up a little more. Stay away from the grindy bits and they won't do anything.

I mentioned form the politicians' perspective earlier. What you have to add in is the bureaucrats' perspective. From that perspective, they love new laws like gun control laws. They don't add much regulatory paperwork for them, and it lets them throw a wall of shit at the people who wind up entering the legal system to force them to capitulate without all that bother of a trial.

The useful idiots like it because they can tell themselves that they are being protected when they aren't, weren't before, and that the only thing keeping them safe is the fact that bad shit is really not all that common combined with a bit of good luck. The only thing keeping them scared is the fact they are very shitty at comprehending scale and think the world revolves around them.
