Glock match in Jackson

Recommended Posts

It's a great time.  It's $35 to join GSSF and $30 per Glock gun u want to shoot.

3 stages.

Time and accuracy count.

Random prizes including $$$, Guns, Knives etc.

If u come in first in a division u win a gun, second is $$$ and third is usually a knife.

The shooting usually takes 3-4 hours at most.

Ammo count is like 120ish rounds to be on the safe side.

I will be going with my teammates to shoot. The last 3 years I have won guns by placing.  It's good times.

Lots of fun and no pressure. Get there early as the lines for the stages can get long.

Take your time when shooting. Misses cost time so try not to miss.

Do the plate rack last. it goes quickly and there is less wait.

You can find info about the stages here: http://gssfonline.com/courses.cfm

The Glock Report comes out twice a year and the second volume contains details about the matches. The latest one I could find on their website is from 2016: http://www.gssfonline.com/glockrpt/2016_The_Glock_Report_VOLII.pdf

Thanks guys. I joined gssf a few months back. Got the email about this match.

I assume I'll have to get a holster and mag holders. I do not have those.

I have 3 10round mags. Is that enough ? Lol

Thanks again

Nick

are these seperate events each day or an event over both? Need to shoot just one day or both days of shooting is required?   Never done a match myself either and already have joined GSSF as well.

You can shoot any or all of the events either day.  If you wish, you can shoot multiple events with most stock Glocks.

Read the following docs, and you'll be fine.  It's quite beginner-friendly.

Courses of Fire

New Competitor Brief

Rule Book, also describes which guns are eligible for which events

I’d love to participate in one of these, yet I am quite sure I would embarrass myself.

Lots of first timers there. The RO's are very easy to work with. Tell them it is your first match and they will help (as will others). Everyone is pretty friendly.

btw it is worth mentioning that you don't handle your firearm except at a safe table (at no ammo on the safe table) or when it is your turn to shoot and the RO will give you directions to tell you when to load/touch your firearm.

Also make sure you understand and follow basic firearm safety rules and you will be fine. No one cares if you miss.

Not to take away from this thread, but for those of you that find you really enjoy yourself at this type of event, I'd suggest you check out IDPA or USPSA or both. If the bug bites you really badly you can shoot a match every weekend with only minor travel (<90 minutes).

Just thought I'd throw this out there for your consideration.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

It's this weekend. In Jackson.

Thanks to everyone for the info and offers.

Unfortunately I'm stuck this weekend.  Saturday I have to work and the wife has informed me that Sunday is a family day. I gotta pick and choose my battles carefully. Haha.

Good luck to all who attend!

Nick
