This is the one thing I don't understand.

Well, if I lived further north, I'd probably only go to Cherry Ridge, but I don't, and GFH is a very comfortable 15 minute drive, so I go there. Why do I pay for the membership even if I have to then pay for range time?

  • I take their courses, so I save a bit there.
  • I get very low cost FFL transfers which saves me anything from 25-50 bucks a pop.
  • They've been generally very good to me. I'm sure they'd be just as good to me if I wasn't a member, but I suppose I like to support my local businesses who are doing good things if I can, and I am fortunate enough to be able to afford the membership without difficulty.
  • Also, from a purely financial standpoint, I pay much less for range time over the span of the year than if I went there as often just as a punter off the street.
  • They have a 50 yard range and they let me shoot rifles on it. Better than a 25 that's limited to pistol caliber carbines only!
  • The prospect of getting to shoot at steel once the expansion (someday) opens is pretty exciting to me. I don't know where else I could do that within an hour's drive.
  • Low cost to take guests with me, and if they want to try something else to rent a gun. Yes rental ammo prices suck, but I don't buy too much, so it keeps that cost down.

I too wish I had a range with indoor 25 yard pistol and rifle ports, and outdoor 100 yard and 500 yard ranges, permit me to use green tips, and allow steel targets, and that all just 10 minutes drive from me, but I don't, so...

All in all, GFH is a pretty happy compromise for me to be able to shoot regularly and not feel like I'm a felon for doing so, unlike at some other places around (which are also further away). I don't like it when RSO's are always clearly set on and planning on gunning down customers in their lanes, it really sends a bad message. Take your plate carriers and two guns, and speak to people like they just murdered your dog somewhere else for the capital offense of paying you lots of money to use your range and daring to ask a question about why your gun is experiencing a lot of failures to feed. How dare I ask something like that! How dare I! Clearly you need to send Sgt. Hard-Ass after me and menace me with his two guns strapped to him and accuse me of not knowing how to shoot. I probably I don't, Sgt. Ready-To-Drop-All-The-Customers, but at least you can be polite about it.

Who? Why GFH, of course! It's only $15 (The NICS fee) that I have to pay.

CJRPC is at least an hour and twenty minutes' drive for me. That's just not something I ever care to do, especially as, if I understand their rules right, I may never draw from a holster there unless I am granted specific permission by the board by filing a petition only between 7pm and 8pm on the second Wednesday of the month? I'm not even making this ridiculous stuff up, that's what it says in their rules online! Cherry Ridge is closer and as I understand it offers more.

having only the nics is nice and I've shot at Cherry Ridge (with a member here) and like it there a lot.  I still don't think there is any range in the state that comes close to cjrpc for all the amenities in my humble opinion.

Only law enforcement can draw from a holster at Cherry Ridge. Deal Breaker for me as far as membership but I have shot special events there and it is a very nice range.

Argh, right you are. That's vexing. Oh well, it's the closest place near me with 100 yard + distances to shoot a rifle. I guess I can just leave the handguns home for a day.

Out of curiousity, how big a piece of land would one need to own to be permitted to operate one's own rifle range, assuming one also constructed a berm of the proscribed height, etc? Say I buy these 13 acres, can I pretty much be left to my own devices, as long as I obey local zoning regulations as far as commercial activity is concerned and any local bylaws regarding noise/pollution/etc.?

that is that is such bullshit, they have the highest incidence of gun mishaps for any user group and having been around so many for so long, cops are actually the last people at a gun club or gun range I would trust with a firearm. Now that's not a gross stereotype in New Jersey many of our police simply are not done people and they have awful awful Firearms handling habits

Absolutely agreed! LE instructors will tell you how often they hear of cops pulling their pistol to use the light mounted to it to check something in the dark (just to use the light), muzzle-sweeping other people at the same time!

Here's the story I wrote today about Reloaderz Range.  The second one becomes a caption when shared on Facebook, thus necessitating an "intro" that needs shared.  The "intro" sits on top of the image when it's shared.  Yes there is some redundancy, but since "Phone People" do Facebook on their PHONES, we have to write enough to get them to want to learn more & open-up the caption.  Facebook plays its' games & I play MINE, lol!  Enjoy the story!

REID & ROSENTHAL PROMOTE 2A AT RELOADERZ OPEN HOUSE!
THE WELL ARMED WOMAN & CNJFO THANKED BY NEW RANGE!
by Black Wire Media Saturday Nov. 24, 2018 www.cnjfo.com/join-us

CNJFO Vice President Dave "Rosey" Rosenthal and Jacquelyn Reid from the Northern NJ Chapter of The Well Armed Woman, joined forces yesterday promoting the 2nd Amendment to everyone that attended the Black Friday Open House celebration & member sign-up that took place at Reloaderz NJ, New Jersey's newest shooting range. The Wayne Twp., NJ building once served burgers, fries & shakes as the Fuddruckers on Rt. 23 South. Yesterday they were serving warm smiles, firm handshakes, gourmet cannoli's, cookies and light refreshments as the owners personally greeted every person that walked through the doors, inviting them to tour the entire facility with a staff member. A 15 port state-of-the-art indoor shooting range with programable target holders, Reloaderz NJ will be offering classes, gun rentals, firearms sales & transfers, targets, eyes & ears, apparel & swag, and hosting a brand new chapter of The Well Armed Woman! Membership has its' privileges, and VIP Members have their own special entrance, restroom & conference/ living room area w/ snack bar.

For full details on hours, membership types, rates & benefits, please visit their website: www.reloaderznj.com/membership/ . RELOADERZ NJ RANGE OPEN HOUSE A HUGE SUCCESS!
THE WELL ARMED WOMAN & CNJFO BOTH PROMOTE 2A!
by Black Wire Media Saturday Nov. 24, 2018 www.cnjfo.com

Hundreds of potential members came yesterday during their Black Friday shopping to the official Open House held by Reloaderz NJ, New Jersey's newest 15 lane indoor range on Rt. 23 South across from Kohl's in Wayne, NJ. Warmly greeted with huge smiles & firm handshakes by range owners & staff, the public was offered cannoli's, cookies & light refreshments in their member lounge and then given tours of the brand-new facility which included classroom, VIP lounge, sales & rental counters, and of course the range itself, complete with a D-Lead wash station in the roomy vestibule that helps sound-proof the sales areas. Member sign-ups were handled very efficiently, and a mandatory gun safety video was on a big screen in front of comfy chairs.

Jacquelyn Reid from The Well Armed Woman North Jersey Chapter was there recruiting members for a brand new chapter being established at Reloaderz. The Well Armed Woman is the nation's largest shooting group run by women for its' all female membership, and Reid is on a mission to get as many NJ chapters up & running as she can. NJ has several chapters now and with new ranges opening comes new opportunities at gathering like-minded women together for a few hours for all types of safety instruction, not just firearms handling, although that's given top priority. Reid, a Certified NRA Pistol Instructor & Chief Range Safety Officer, has been shooting & collecting a long time. Versatile in many platforms, she recently signed-up for our CNJFO Hog Hunt run by Coalition Vice President Dave "Rosey" Rosenthal.

Rosenthal, one of two individuals selected this year by NRA-ILA as their Littlefield Memorial "Volunteer of the Year", filled-in for our Shows & Community Outreach Committee. He was at Reloaderz from 10am till 6:30pm yesterday to promote our 2nd Amendment activism, our matching funds lawsuit experience with the Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs, accept membership applications & renewals, sell swag & apparel items, and of course chat about the mag ban case! Several folks signed-up as annual members, and several walk-ins took home our brochures, donated, stopped by our table to chat and learn who we are or bought some swag. Rosenthal also was granted permission to leave a brochure holder in their member lounge area loaded with brochures & business cards on behalf of our membership Committee Chair Michele Rivera. Anyone that visits Reloaderz can take home a brochure, just look for the holder on the coffee table closest to Registration. A total Win-Win all thanks to the hospitality of all of the Reloaderz NJ owners & staff!

Reid and Rosenthal were both invited back to Reloaderz NJ's official Grand Opening celebration which will take place in January. There will be a mini trade show of sorts at the Grand Opening with several gun manufacturers present to answer questions and we intend to give away an annual membership & some swag at it, so be sure to like & follow this page for updates announcing the date!

Savior Equipment American Classic Tactical Double Long Rifle. 36” Model. I bought this from Amazon along with the single rifle case to decide which I liked better. I don’t feel like going through the hassle of returning as it was bought through a third party seller so I figured I’d knock 43ish%  off the price ($70.36 incl tax) and pass it along to someone here that could use it. As new condition minus the tags. $40 cash and pick up in Freehold.

Although it's not a NJ establishment I believe West Side Rifle and Pistol Range is the last indoor gun range that exists in NYC of all places. I happen to know the guys and they are a great bunch of guys. I found out that they are also hurting like all other self owned businesses and someone mentioned they have a gofundme page currently. The fact that they are a 2A establishment and also the only one left in the NYC I figured i  can let our forum members know about their page. They did not come to me about this but if I can help out a business/friend and spread the word I will do so and for a good bunch of guys. I understand that for some of us it's hard to donate but if you can that would be great. If you can also spread the word and post on your social media sites that would be great. I would do so but I don't have any accounts on FB, IG or other sites. If you do donate drop them a message that it was you heard about them via NJGF!

Thank you and sorry for asking......

A fellow forum was asking about a display case for his wife’s pistol I believe. So I decided after seeing some display cases for insane prices, to make my own out of more or less cheap prices.
This one will be for my Nighthawk Custom Falcon 1911.
I started out with a humidor I had when I was on a cigar kick with the club.
Humidors make perfect cases for your gun.
Why? Its designed to keep moisture in so your cigars don’t dry out. Ones that are well made have a nice tight seal.
‘But John, we don’t want to keep moisture in. It will hurt the gun’. Correctomundo! But using it to keep moisture out works too! If you are not a cigar smoker, a humidor keeps the cigars from drying out by putting a moisture pad inside. We simply won’t be using the moisture pad nor the cheapo humidity gauge they usually give you.
So lets start. One used but still in great shape humidor with glass lid. If you don’t have one, you can pick up something decent for about $50. I added a lik leather NH tag to use to open lid. They are air tight and easier to open with something to grab.

If you use a humidor, they sometimes come with a lil shelf and divider. Toss them.
Next, we added a little antique bronze clasp. 5 for $12 on Amazon. They come with tiny wood screws. You’ll need a jeweler type phillips head and a small awl to start a hole. Do not screw in without a starter hole. Also a mini pad lock with skeleton key.

Next, you’ll want something to lay in there like velvet. I chose purple velvet. Rather than buy it by the yard, I actually got 2 - 14”x14” pillow shams with zippers on Amazon for about $11...
This is a lot cheaper than buying it by the yard plus you don’t gave to sew anything. Just stuff it and zip it.

You will need something to stuff it. That is your choice. I already had a bag of poly fill from another project. You can even rio open al old pillow and use the guts.

Next is rechargeable Silica packs. I got a 25 count bag cheap also on Amazon. I chose to line the bottom of the case and also throw some inside the sham.

Once you beat it and adjust it to get in the right position, you can see how the gun sits and adjust as needed.
Next is optional and not cheap. I picked up 2 - Sensor Push bluetooth temp/humidity sensors for $50 each. One for the box and one for my safe. After calibrating them and pairing them to my phone, I inserted one into the display case.

You don’t have to do this but I’m a bit of a tech nerd so.... [emoji6]
You can also use a cheap digital one too.
This one transmits data and stores 20 points which you can set alarms in the app if moisture increases. Kind of more important in my safe but....[emoji16]
Here is a sample of the data. I just put them in so it will take time to level off.

That’s pretty much it. Outside of the sensors, its cheap, easy and looks great. You can fo crazy with it or go simple.
