South American Mauser

Recommended Posts

Looks nice, not my thing, Yet. Own a Yugo SKS, My father was from there
Next one will be a Garand
But I try read all posts, until they get far away from the starting subject.
Learned about new and interesting things here.

Garands are great rifles too. I love the Crests and quality of the old Mausers. I did learn recently there were itlaian contract Garands made for places like Yemen and Indonesia that had Crests on them.

That's a long German word on that mauser!

It's DWM. Pic got blurry. Deustcher Waffen Und Munitionsfabriken or German Weapons and Munitions Factory or something like that.

Nice score, some of the contract mausers are just so well made it's amazing the high standards they had. They could never make a rifle like that again for a decent price.
I remember someone on another board posting up 1935 Chilean carbine some time ago and I was amazed at the condition and the detail of the rifle.

That's a beautiful rifle @capt14k.  Mil-surp is not my thing but I can absolutely appreciate the esthetics of the German and Chilean Mausers.  The Crest, as some have said, is the cherry on top.

I've wanted to build a 7x57 rifle for hunting (even thought I don't gun hunt) on an old Mauser action with a modern barrel.  Just seems so cool, mixing old and new.  And yes, I know it's been done a million times.  But I think it would be a hoot to try.

Enjoy.
