Sniper 6,372 Posted October 10, 2018 Didn't see a thread yet. Looks like this thing gained some major strength the last few hours. Currently a Cat 4 at landfall with 145 mph winds, with gusts to 175. Pressure down to 928. Not many buildings will sustain that. Looks like Tyndall AFB might be vaporized, it's right in the path of the eye. They will get a 9 - 13 ft. storm surge. 1LtCAP 4,258 Posted October 10, 2018 know what i find ironic? my brother used to live in orlando. years ago, they got whacked with a smaller hurricane.......found neighbors shit in their back yard, etc. he was terrified. so what's he do? he moves out to the west coast. where this shit's common. i can't wait to hear the wailing "poor me" shit from him. don't get me wrong....i don't wish anything bad on anyone....but the dude's a turd
Sniper 6,372 Posted October 10, 2018 Winds now up to 150 mph at landfall, pressure down to 923. Cat 5, is 157 mph. Hurricane Katrina was at 920 at landfall and 135 mph, but was a larger diameter storm.

HBecwithFn7 296 Posted October 10, 2018 It looks like it will scoot by us, here in the Tampa Bay area. But the panhandle will get hit hard. I hope they survive. We're talking about upwards of 14' storm surge.. And those are very low lying areas as well. My favorite BBQ place in FL is out there. Gotta hope they make it! Krdshrk 3,871 Posted October 10, 2018 My parents are flying down to Raleigh tomorrow - hopefully it stays south... IDK it may be rough... Luckily they're flying through Newark so if stuff gets cancelled, they can stay with us.
Displaced Texan 11,647 Posted October 10, 2018 Yeah, that’s gonna be a brutal storm. Glad we got home from Savannah Monday. Hold on tight, our Florida brothers and sisters.

Sniper 6,372 Posted October 10, 2018 The eye of the storm went directly over Tyndall AFB, base of F22 training, they took a direct hit.

Heard on the news one might have touched down in Clay.

Krdshrk 3,871 Posted October 11, 2018 Bumpy ride but my parents made it to Raleigh. 90+ minute delays from here in Newark and no drink service, but they made it.
