Shooting In CA Country Bar

Recommended Posts

Liberal Jedi mind tricks.

Change the conversation from the fact he used an illegal mag (and therefore mag bans don’t really work) to he illegally modified a legal gun (therefore so scary, we should just ban guns).

Unfortunately, many dummies reading the NY Post will arrive at that “logical” conclusion.

As a modification, one must have a federal firearms manufacturer licenses to change mags or be charged with a felony.

How about some accountability for the failure of law enforcement to enforce CA's "red flag" law. A quick call to a judge after the visit that according to CNN that the perpetrator refused to come out and speak to police for several hours, multiple complaints from his mother to neighbors. A simple cursory investigation should have turned up enough evidence to have his gun seized temporally.

I'm not a fan of these laws but since a judge makes the call this one is better than NJ's and could have prevented this.

Instead they'll pass another law that won't be enforced and the result will be the same.

Just remember to blame this shooting on the extended mag...... NOT the person behind the trigger....

...."(CNN) Back in April, officers in Thousand Oaks, California, responded to a disturbance at the home of Ian David Long.

Long, a 28-year-old who had spent several years with the Marines and served in Afghanistan, was acting somewhat irate and a little irrationally, according to Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean.

A mental health specialist with the crisis team met with him and felt he might be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. But after speaking with him, they decided not to detain him under laws that allow for the temporary detention of people with psychiatric issues.

A neighbor said Long's mother "lived in fear" of what her son might do, saying when police were called to the house earlier this year "it took them about a half a day to get him out of the house."

Neighbor Richard Berge said Long's mother told him she was concerned about her son, though not worried about her own safety, and that "she was ... kind of beside herself, she didn't know what to do because he wouldn't get help."

No one can justifiably predict the future... careful of this slippery slope.

I agree it's a slippery slope however if a law is passed on the basis that it might prevent something like this and then the law is not used then there was no reason to pass the law in the first place.

Like Parkland this guy by all accounts I've read was known to law enforcement and nothing was done.

This is just strange 50-60 people from Vegas shooting were at CA shooting for what sounds like a reunion. Reports are saying girl who was at San Bernardino and Vegas shootings was also at Borderline Bar.

They walk among us....

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (KABC) -- The gunman who killed 12 people at a country music bar in Thousand Oaks went on social media during the attack and posted about his mental state and whether people would believe he was sane, a law enforcement official said Friday.

Law enforcement sources who have been briefed on the Thousand Oaks mass shooting investigation tell ABC News that preliminary information indicates suspected gunman Ian David Long walked into the Borderline Bar & Grill, immediately shot a group of security guards and employees standing near the entrance, and then paused to text or post messages on social media. After a pause he then began shooting victims on the dance floor.

Documents obtained by ABC News show Long posted on social media at 11:24 p.m. saying, "It's too bad I won't get to see all the illogical and pathetic reasons people will put in my mouth as to why I did it. Fact is I had no reason to do it, and I just thought... f***it, life is boring so why not?"

Then, at 11:27 p.m., he posted, "I hope people call me insane (2 smiley face emojis)...wouldn't that just be a big ball of irony? Yeah... I'm insane, but the only thing you people do after these shootings is 'hopes and prayers'... or 'keep you in my thoughts'... every time... and wonder why these keep happening... (2 more smiley face emojis).

Just remember, always blame your "high capacity" magazines for these wacko shooters. It's NEVER mental illness (according to some Democrats).

Fox news reported "armed with a Glock 21 .45-caliber handgun with an illegal extended magazine" ... how can that be true!!!  These magazine laws were supposed to prevent this and save lives, he could not have been carrying an extended mag if it was not legal!  Oh right, bad guys do not follow laws, only the good guys do ... if the Fox news report is accurate this is perfect example of why these laws are useless.

Unfortunately the associated logic behind this results in justification for nationwide high capacity ban.  As an agenda item while ignoring the 800 lb gorilla in the room.

Their logic is simple, and easy for us to relate.  Anyone from NJ could drive to PA or DE tomorrow and buy high cap mags.  And since they’re crazy and likely to be dead in a few hours, who cares if having them breaks the law.  That makes the case for nationwide “common sense” gun laws.

Again, ignoring the fact that the 99.999% of law abiding people pose zero risk with these items, and the 0.001% of crazies will just find another way to harm people.

this could lead to an interesting question. those of you that are using a storage place for your soon to be illegal nj mags......if we end up with a national limit again.....will those business's return your mags? I don't see that they'd be able to.....

Gun Sitters is the LAST place I would ever go to for my magazine storage! Most of us have friends or family who would gladly keep a box of mags in their homes in America.

If not, rent a small storage space and it's none of their damn business what is in that sealed box!

Pay the rent on time and you will ALWAYS have access to your mags regardless of ANY laws!

Yep, I never understood that either. Instead of spending the money and time, just give them away.

What about putting them in a sealed box and just have a non-gun owner family member store them in an attic or similar. I'd doubt the local PD will tear someone's house apart looking for a few "high capacity" mags.

If anyone here needs to store mags for whatever reason they are more than welcome to mail them to me. I'll keep them in the unopened box and send it back whenever the owner would like. Free of charge.

For the record though if I was still in NJ I would not get rid of any of my mags.

I guess first question is how did the last AWB go down with that? Weren’t existing mags grandfathered in somehow?  Didn’t large capacity mags still exist in free states?
