RTSP - UNION - Grand Opening

Recommended Posts

The best way to handle business announcements is through an "integrated marketing campaign" (a blend of traditional marketing vehicles PLUS multiple online/social media sites). And that's because people have their individual preferences. Some will be on Facebook, others will be on forums... and/or Instagram, Twitter, etc. One man's cup of tea is another's poison, as they say. Nothing wrong with that.

Not sure what all the hate on facebook is about.   Have an account.. accept no friends, dont need to post any pictures, like and follow the places, pages and groups you may like , like RTSP, Tanners sports center (always posting deals and sales), Luciano's guns and ammo(always posting deals and sales), Long Range Shooters and Precision Marksman group,CNJFO (you whiners won't miss the pig hunt announcements ), GFH, ANJRPC, OBRPC, SC Arms, Caso's Gun-A-Rama, Howell Gun Works (great to see their daily consignment posts), manufacturers like glock, sig etc just to name a few etc etc.  and that's just some of the stuff I follow on facebook.

And ignore all the other crap.  LOADS of firearm info/news your potentially missing by at the very least not participating minimally on. Just as much wholesome "gun porn" on facebook to enjoy as there is here :)

You haters should at least give THAT a try.  if you still dont like it then kill your account.

Just got back from RTSP Union... today was their grand opening.. the range is beautiful.  They did a fantastic job on it. Kudos to them.

Planning to visit there with the family asap. The wife likes the idea of a place with nice clean ladies' rooms. I figure they HAVE to be since the place is brand new.

Great facility and convenient location (even though it is Rt.22).  Plenty of ports.  The Grand Opening event sure did bring out a lot of people.  Guessing I did not win the SIG raffle ;(

Very friendly owners and staff, even considering it was very busy and I'm sure opening day there were some bugs to work out.

They have a SIG Elite store in house and also carry a lot of 5.11 Tactical clothing, GPS bags, and tons of firearms and accessories.  The coffee at their in-house Barista Bar was pretty good too.

I'm sure they will have great success in this location

@Smokin .50 it’s Facebook that I think we always part ways on

@Zeke yes that's true.  Since I'm not an owner at RTSP, and since there's at least one of the owners with an account HERE, and since they may pay to advertise HERE, I didn't get into the middle of it.  Truth be told, I was busy doing family things all weekend, and "jobbed-out" our volunteer coverage for our table completely.  I wasn't there at all yesterday!

When I do take the time to cross-post an article here on the forum, hardly anyone interacts with it (Zeke & a few others do---thank you---but those numbers are weak) and instead they lurk.  Hardly any questions or other discourse, but I'm starting to notice a rise in "likes" so at least I know it's being read.

An observation:

You guys complaining about Facebook is akin to having an Associated Press Wire Teletype Machine circa 1980 installed in your home office & never bothering to scan the machine to see if the inked ribbon is out or if the paper roll is laying on the floor!  Point Blank, you can't hold me responsible for every story/event/newscast that doesn't get transferred to this forum.  Perhaps establishing a committee of folks that use both comms tools (Forum & Facebook) and organizing volunteer coverage of several time slots (shifts) so as to enable said volunteers to speedily pass-along traffic would help aid in the distribution of newsworthy events & commentary, and doing so in such a way that all info transferred is on a single page source that every reader looks at first before just "thread jumping" into their favorite categories?

We're in a 24 hr news cycle.  Every moment I spend here I can't spend THERE learning, writing, editing, and most importantly, SHARING the info.  Throw-in this week's head cold, my wife starting a new job tomorrow, and friends asking for my son's address in PA so they can ship him their mags, and Rosey's world this last week has been NUTZ!  I will endeavor to get HERE every day.  Of late it's been an every other day kind of "thing".  So who here wants to help / be Editor of the NJGF News Magazine?

There will be a tech solution to that and have in the past, and do have the ability to automatically post info from here to FB, Twitter and others.

I mainly visit here and Reddit.

Now, you can post here and easily share it with all of those platforms...

You can share the entire topic easily by clicking on one of the social media icons below the quick reply button...

Do Members have to pay for port time in addition to membership fees?

Assuming they are running it the way they run the Randolph facility, the answer would be no port fee for members, just pay your annual dues and go shoot at no extra charges whenever you want.

Maks that's great for sharing ONTO Facebook, but nearly 95% of breaking news in the firearms community happens ON FACEBOOK, so what do you have as a solution to transmit newsworthy stories from Facebook to the Forums?  And will there be a "Clearing House" forum where all of the stories can be read first prior to a casual reader bopping-around onto their favorites & thus missing more news about grand openings & etc.?  Folks that are "Anti-Facebook" need a Clearing House forum AND they need to RETRAIN themselves to go to it FIRST so they don't miss important news & events in a 24 hour news cycle.

Last year it generally took 2-3 DAYS for news stories of a firearms nature to be posted onto this forum.  Now we're down to a day, and in most important cases, LESS than a day.  A marked improvement.  But shit does still falls thru the cracks...

Not sure if Facebook lets you export a feed, if so, we can import.

The main thing is... there are more people on the forum, then in any of the NJ facebook groups.  It is just that folks use facebook more frequently for their other stuff and just happen to see gun news.  It is also easier to catch a bigger event.

Topics also tend to go up and die far quicker on social media than communities and I believe you can have a far better discussion here.

Beyond that, again, the VAST majority of gun people in NJ get their news from the range when they go shoot, and not here or on facebook, etc.  Plus do we really want to post stuff with your facebook profile?  Anyone valuing privacy is not.

So it is true..  while there are "more people with guns in NJ" on Facebook... there are more "gun people" on the various forums including NJGF and NJ Hunter.

Beyond that, I feel it comes down to, do you want to have a serious discussion on the topic? Or do you just want to spread a message?  FB will be better for spreading a message and we have it clearly in all of the "raids are coming" posts you see today.

Is there any serious discussion there?  Very little.  Most of the comments are just kissing ass and any disagreeing comments get pounced on and personally attacked.  Do forums have those moments?  Yes... but I feel the people here are far more intelligent and level headed.

It is not about one or the other... they both serve their purpose.

The way I look at FB today is for shit posts and spreading the word.

For serious discussions, just looking at our data, we have about 800 registered members who visit the forum daily, and tens of thousands who come to read but do not participate. It is easy to take it fore granted.

Although I agree with some of what you posted here, I think my question went unanswered.  Is there a solution to getting Facebook breaking news to the Anti-Facebook people here on the Forum?  Can the Clearing House concept be considered or will we be forever caught in an "Us vs. Them" circle jerk that results in communications not getting to the Anti's?  I'm not debating which platform is better & for what purpose(s), and yes they each have their niche (which is WHY I'm trying so hard HERE).  I'm trying to solve a problem here so that in the future we don't read about folks here not knowing WTF happened...

You could follow them on Twitter, thus, not needing FB.  https://twitter.com/rtsponline

do you idiots not know how to derail a thread? I've lurked this site for a while, every single thread derailed by sidechatter. there's no need to dispute whether you should be on social media or not. You missed the announcement of RTSP Union grand opening because you're not on social media, they should have posted here blah blah blah, guess what? THEY DIDN'T.

That being said I swung by saturday just to check it out, I didn't shoot but i checked out the store. It's nice, not a huge selection in the store just yet but I get they just opened.

I don't have Facefuck either.  I also don't have tweets, myspace, instawhore and snapslut.

If they carry 5.11 clothes like @AV8r said, I am all in.  Minus the traffic of Rt 22.

For guns all they really had was sig (for now), a few 10/22’s, shockwaves.

Accessories were disappointing, TetraGun, Condor, very basic Magpul selection. Again i hope with time they improve this!

As you all can imagine, the past three years of getting this store up and running has been a journey for the ages.  I appreciate all of you that took the time to come visit the shop and I know that as we progress through the next year, inventory and atmosphere will be doing nothing but grow. I must also admit that it is my own fault for not getting the word out on the forum and to that I apologize to all myfellow forum folks.  As Randolph before, my door is always open to any of you that may have any needs, suggestions and or concerns.  The staff here in Union is a bit new so we are working through the small stuff to really make this a great shooting experience for all of our dedicated customers.  I am most easily contacted at my email: [email protected] and more than welcome contact from any and all of you.  I do not easily forget the suggestions that were provided by many of you in the Randolph location and the growing pains were ALL of ours.  This Union location will have similar growing pains and as before, I prefer to hear from you first and try and address it than getting off to a bad start with published complaints before a solution has been examined.  If I don't do anything or fail to act, WELL, BASH AWAY!! HA HA  Thank you again for backing us over the past seven years and I look forward to seeing you at the range.
