I believe the Green Anaconda is the longest species.

Nope wrong. Green anaconda is the largest as in heaviest in weight but the longest recorded specimen was 28 feet.

The reticulated python is much thinner but gets longer. The longest specimen to date is 32 feet.

Very common misconception for non reptile people.

Well... Google would argue with you. My Python is just a little guy at 5 ft but Ive had him for about 16 years.

I dont think Google would argue with me.

Your retic is only 5ft after 16 years? That's really small even for a super dwarf retic. I've never seen an adult retic thst small and I've been into snakes and other reptiles for 22 years.

I did not say I had a Retic, just that I had a Python. I specifically didnt go with a big snake because of my other pets and kids. A single anecdote of a particularly long snake doesnt make the species the longest as a species. A world record tall person from indonesia (apparently one of the shortest races of people on earth) doesnt make them the tallest race. You said longest species. That conflicted with what I recalled so I looked it up. 1st hit said Anaconda was longest as a species. Digging deeper, results say that some hold that neither is the clear winner for a lack of data that is verifiable.

If you will notice in that article that says anacondas are the largest according to their length to weight ratio. Not the longest.

Whatever no need to argue. We will have to agree to disagree.

https://www.livescience.com/34444-biggest-snake-largest-snake-longest-snake.html you might want to read the whole artical you posted a paragraph from.

Well... Im not convinced I disagree. Since I made the point, then I have an obligation to hearing your position and considering its merits. I find your position is not without substance. That led me to the discussion about the topic seems to be an actual debate amongst herpetologists. But I digress, I just want to know where I can get cat skin grips for my 1911! :O :D

Cat skins? As in furry grips? Lmao to each their own I guess. I've seen rattle snake grips ( possibly on this forum) before. Probably make good trips as the scales are keeled making them rough. Dont know how durable they would be though. I have a large old anaconda skin but it's in rough shape and brittle from years of UV exposure

@PK90 how smooth are your grips?
