Thread for firearm form processing times by municipality?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

New to the forum.

I was wondering if there is an existing thread here with metrics on turnaround times for firearms form processing by municipality?

Thanks for your time.

P.S. 4 trackers blocked while writing this post, 10 trackers blocked after signing into site.

welcome to the forum?  :matrix:

Just do a search for your town and see what comes up.

Yes, it is useful however no, it varies by each town and in many cases is very different for person to person.

About those "Trackers".... yes, every website uses some sort of cookies... you know... this way it recognizes you on your computer when you login again, along with for appropriate ads (as that is how the site is supported).

No, your information is not sold and we do not know what porn you are watching.

No offense, but I’d rather pull the information versus pushing it to everyone on the internet.

People here are generally more helpful when brand new users are a tad less... "tinfoily".

And just to be up front... we have PLENTY of LEO from various departments and municipalities as members on the forum.  They are awesome people and great gun owners.

Welcome. Hope you brought extra tin foil hats for everyone. Theirs are getting worn out.

No tin foil hats here.

If you don’t mind companies building profiles on you, that’s your business.

Thought I’d bring it to everyone’s attention that it happens everywhere you go. Even innocuous sites like njgunforums.

I understand that it’s very convenient to make money by allowing Google (and others) to embed themselves in your site.

The information from the users of this site is sold (whether you disclose that or not) in order to provide targeted advertising.

Do you think that’s appropriate in such a politically sensitive state on a politically sensitive topic?

Don’t really care if you know what kind of porn I look at or not.

I don’t know what you mean by being “less tinfoily”.

Never badmouthed LEO or members of this forum.

Just looking for information.

Just looking for information.

Your ISP has data on everything that goes through your cable modem.

Sites like these exist in one of two ways... advertising or memberships.  Memberships do not cover it all, not nearly there, and as such we rely on advertising, predominantly seen by regular members and guests.  Avant link is for affiliate marketing, so if you do shop through one of our banner ads, the site gets a small percentage, again, does not cost you anything.

As far as the tinfoil comment... it was rather your first two posts...  first, warning users that the site uses cookies as 99.99999% of sites out there do, and your second post was a response that you do not want to state what town you live in when a knowledgeable member was willing to help,  after asking for information which was readily available and pinned to the top of the section where you posted your post.

Would you jump off a bridge if everyone else did?

or,

Does stealing bread for your starving family make it ok?

I had no problem with the member asking me what town I lived in. I thought I responded fairly. If that is being “tinfoily”, I apologize for being “tinfoily”.

With all do respect, you asked a question obviously about how a specific town or city handles gun paperwork! How can anyone answer your question without knowing which municipality you speak of?

It's really a shame you know! You happened to stop at the #1 gun forum in this entire state by far! There are more experts in NJ 2A related law and general and specific gun knowledge here that you would never ever find anywhere else!

We know all about cookies and such. We know what to post and what not to post for that reason. You have already met Maksim! He is the founding Administrator of this sight and you are off to a bad start here. Calm down and enjoy a combined wealth of knowledge you will never find the likes of anywhere!

Oh and welcome to NJGF!:)

There is no need to apologize.

It does lead to a bigger issue.... if people, such as yourself do not want any information tracked... do we just make the community for premium members?

As far as google analytics... and I take this as an opportunity to educate... we use Google Analytics to get live data as far as where members come from, how they are using the site, etc.  I look at it to see how and where members come from and what community resources are popular, helpful etc.  It has nothing to do with building your customer profile or anyone elses.

The only two other are as I explained earlier Google Ads (so you see appropriate ads for gun companies, or ads for things you have been shopping for, instead of say Democrats or PETA) and Avantlink which is the affiliate network.

No one else has your data and the site does not share user data with anyone, not even vendors, NRA, or anyone else.

As far as would I jump off of a bridge?  Actually, this is more like...

"You are in a crowded theater and it is on fire, everyone is running for the doors.... do you stay there?"

And stealing bread?  Please explain...  What is being stolen and how is anyone wronged by visiting the site?

Do you not watch television? (Cable company tracks who watches what, when and how often.)

ISP, as alluded to earlier knows exactly what you are posting, when how often, etc.

Your cell phone listens 100% of the time to everything you say... unless you have one of those dumbphones without Siri, Google Assistant, etc.

Or are you merely implying that I should spend hundreds to thousands a month to keep this running as charity and all of the people here should be at the beckon call? (while everyone else is entitled).

If anyone, it would be the community is being wronged because you are looking for information without providing anything of value in return.  (silly comment gets a ridiculous response)...

Btw... as I am sure you are aware... more and more people use ad blockers.  The result of which, sites end up losing money and are forced to do one of a few things...

1. Go paying member only.  The community becomes much smaller.

2. Put in A LOT more ads and go outside of Google Adsense to plaster less appropriate ads... ad networks which show ads and install malware or porn.  Community goes to crap.

3. Sell out to a large network like Vertical Scope... a liberal group who owns the vast majority of the forums, and gun forums in particular.  Community goes to crap.

or...

4. Sometime in the future we restrict access to the site to guests and possibly members who use ad blockers.  Don't want to, but unless the finances balance out may have to... meaning folks like yourself would not have access to the site.

As far as deciding where to take your site, that’s for the people to decide, in my opinion.

I never suggested you are building profiles on users of your site. Allowing Google (and others) to track users allows THEM to build profiles on YOUR users.

Per your crowded theater analogue, are you suggesting that you are somehow torn between being stuck in a bottleneck to destruction and assured destruction?

Stealing bread reference: you detailed how relying on paid memberships is not sustainable. Therefore relying on advertiser revenue is the only option. My analogy is that the starving family is the unsustainable income source and stealing bread is the advertiser revenue.

I anonymize all traffic coming out of my household;

I anonymize all traffic coming out of my devices;

I do not have any accounts with Google;

I do not use any Cable company-provided hardware.

I never suggested an alternative operating model to you.

I don’t understand how the community is being wronged by me. Not really sure what you are expecting me to provide in return.

Being wronged in that we are providing a resources with no way of being compensated for the resources you are using... (considering you are not a premier member and are blocking ads.)

In any case, to answer the question you likely wanted to ask... places like Jersey City can take up to a year to process paperwork.  Yes, the law is 30 days and it has been fought, however Jersey City gets away with it.  Other towns may be better  but generally it varies by their caseload, in most cases, more than 30 days, generally 2 to 3 months.

Thanks for letting me know your thoughts on Jersey City.

Also, thanks for letting everyone of your users know that you not only have access to their information, but you are willing to disclose it in a public forum to settle petty scores.

This obviously isn’t the site for me or for anyone who values their privacy.

slowdown cupcake, it's a public forum no?  You are on the internet, you have no privacy in fact, I could find you probably inside of a day of your posting.

I bring up Jersey City because it is the worst offender of gun rights in the state.  Just do a search here for Jersey City.

Jersey City, Newark, One of the Oranges... all take a year or so to get pistol permits.

lol   then he's woefully ignorant to the workings of the internet

Such as every server request is accompanied by your IP address... and downloading torrents can get you emails letting you know you are breaking copyrights? I know, this is why you are supposed to run Proxies....

But in any case, I think most people really don't know how the internet works and actually believe they have annonymity.

Just got the annual privacy notice from our ISP here and right there, a reminder... "We track your usage."

Or how many devices in the household that automatically listen to everything you say through their microphones... And this is just the things that we know about. lol.

Not even discussing the government spying....

The good news at least... too much data for them to process... for now.
