What are the laws on Fingerprinting

Recommended Posts

So I'm being told I need to have my fingerprints done again if I want to apply for a Permit to purchase a handgun.

It's been less than 3 years since my last P2P and around 5 years since my last electronic fingerprinting.

I'm being told, since it's over 5 years that I need to be fingerprinted again.

What are the laws regarding fingerprinting exactly? Is my local PD requiring extra? They blame it on the county -- Middlesex County

Seems like another money making scam again to me -- My prints didn't change in the last 5 years. -- Did anyone ever figure out what politician owns Morpho?

in old bridge as long as you apply for permits once every two years you don’t need to be reprinted.

I apply for and get permits 3-4 times a year.

But agree with the others, it’s up the chief of the town you live in.

And how does that even make sense in anyone's mind. Better yet, my wife had to get digitally fingerprinted for her job, and again when she applied to be a school substitute for the days she was off from her regular job, and yet again when she was helping out in our church's preschool (all required by law), all sets done by Sagem Morpho at $70+ a pop. You mean to tell me they don't have a registry of those already on file? What a joke!

Definitely a money making scam. I work in education, and have been fingerprinted by NY, NJ, Sagem Morpho and other LEO agencies.

Other towns never have people reprint ever.

THIS^^^^^

I hear this all the time,  people who were already fingerprinted by them "need" to be fingerprinted again for some other legal reason. Anyone who has been fingerprinted in NJ has an SBI number,  your fingerprints are in their database under your SBI number, there is no reason you should need to be fingerprinted again.

It's the socialist people's republic of New Jermany - they do whatever they want.  If finger prints really changed there would be no reason to take them at all, think about it for a moment.  But heck, it is stupid just about every where.  My wife teaches at an after school program here in Florida and had to get printed.  Because the two schools are in different counties (only a few miles apart) she had to have it done twice. Here is the real kicker, she had both done at the UPS store at the same time.  They did one, then immediately did the entire process again - you would think they could do the prints and electronically send them twice.  Fortunately there was no cost to her. Stupidity seems to be rampant everywhere.

This is how it used to be here -- Get a P2P once every 3 years and you where good to go -- No new prints needed

Now it's once every 5 years regardless

Some food for thought..

ALL of our prints are in A NJ data base...

When you go to the range, all of your spent casings have your prints on them.

Break out the tin foil!

What's to stop someone from relocating that brass to a crime scene?

Last handgun I purchased was $200. Add a $70 fingerprint fee and a $15 NICS fee and you effectively have a 50% tax on the purchase.( I did not have to pay those fees)

That's why these regulations exist as they are not laws. They exist to dissuade law abiding citizens from exercising their constitutional rights.

Old bridge is Middlesex County too.

old bridge is fine with me. When submitting for permits I usually wait under 50 days.

Shortest time is 3 weeks, s d longest has been 8 weeks.

That sounds to me like a conditioned subject, not a citizen.

Better than the 6-8 months that others sometimes wait.

I think everyone would like the state to abide by its own law of 30 days.

I cannot understand how anyone would stay in NJ.  I moved may family and company from NJ to VA.  Since then we have prospered. Much lower taxes and freedom.  I can hunt with a rifle or handgun and have done both.  NJ just plain sucks.  I do have family there, bit it wasn't enough to stay miserable.  Most US states are much better than NJ,  Just leave and live a free citizen.

I'd like to be able to walk into a gun store, see something I like, and walk out 20-30 minutes later with my purchase like the rest of the country.

Corzine has a stake in Sagem Morpho. I wonder if he's from Middlesex County?

I'd offer my SBI number in lieu of being reprinted.

I'm curious if this could be challenging in court. It is a scam.

Or, more frequently, depending on the situation:
