Munster25 0 Posted January 31, 2019 Can I have a rifle that has a folding stock or threaded barrel shipped to an FFL who is also a gunsmith? When the FFL receives the rifle they would do the stock pinning and muzzle pinning there before I receive it. Would I be good to go doing this?

Maksim 1,504 Posted January 31, 2019 No issues as long as the FFL is expecting it and willing to do the work. We have plenty of FFLs here as vendors who would be able to do the basic compliance work. Send them a message, I am sure they would be willing to help you out.

remixer 1,645 Posted January 31, 2019 We also accept non compliant and will make it Nj legal prior to pick up. A heads up is always helpful to avoid surprises.

I think FFL to FFL deals are fairly straightforward or having your FFL who is also a dealer get you the gun and make it compliant. There are some out-of-state dealers who simply won't ship a non-compliant gun to a restricted state. For example, Bud's policy: We will not ship firearms to a third party to be modified or changed in any way from manufactured specifications. The firearm you purchase must be compliant AS IS from the manufacturer before we will ship.
