This will make it the 15th state to do so. Permit free open and concealed carry just by the constitution. Here we are in NJ and can not even do it by permit.

It appears that Iowa and Kentucky may be next.  We'll know in the next few months.

Oklahoma passes Constitutional Carry 2-27-2019

Permitless Gun Carry Bill First Signed by Oklahoma Governor

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma residents will be able to openly carry firearms without a background check or training under a bill given final legislative approval Wednesday that quickly became the first signed into law by the new Republican governor.

Dubbed "constitutional carry" by its supporters, the bill passed the Senate on a 40-6 vote with every Republican and one Democrat voting in favor. It already sailed through the GOP-controlled House .

The bill, which becomes effective Nov. 1, would allow most residents 21 and older to carry concealed or unconcealed firearms without a license. Exceptions would include anyone in the country illegally or those convicted of certain crimes. Firearms would still be prohibited in certain locations, including public buildings, schools, professional sporting events, casinos and bars.

I can't argue with that, sounds reasonable to me.

But this is the Communist state of NJ, so I don't think THEY remember what the constitution actually is.

THEY seem to like their own version of the "constitution" better.....that would be the New Jersey Constitution, signed in 1946.  Interestingly enough, there is no reference to the 2nd Amendment in that document.

simplest answer: money

think about it... their NR permit is $100 and honors in lots of states, and they issue it to anyone.

Also, reciprocity with other states.  For example, if you have a resident NH carry permit, you can carry in PA.

    • In 50 years of living in NJ I've never experienced any attempt to inspect the interior of the home, and only one definite inspection of the exterior for an announced reassessment of all properties and that was a drive by. About 9 years of that was living in an apartment, but still, uncommon. Every place I lived had either a finished attic, basement, or both. But they were also included in the habitable square footage on the taxes when we got there.
    • 27.00 and change in tolls to drive down the shore from Rutherford,  47.00 in tolls to go out to Long island to visit dying relatives. Now I read they are going to raise the fees in the DMV. Murphy lied just to get elected when he said that seniors will get a significant tax break with his StayNJ" program to stop us from leaving.   Keep voting for democrats...this is what you get.  Tax and spend is all they know.  Never cut anything.  This state sucks.
    • I get the added benefit that since I have a TSP rather than a true 401(k) they tax my retirement too. Yaaaay!
