You need to leave NJ when you retire. They will still levy tax on contributions to TSP and traditional IRA, but if you leave the state, they cannot tax your withdrawals. If you stay in NJ. they'll tax everything -

I wasn’t thinking about buying a new gun. Really. It just kinda…happened. There I was, at GT Distributors, minding my own business, when out of nowhere, came this police trade in Glock 19.. $309, with 3 mags! I mean, I couldn’t NOT buy it, it was so cheap! That’s how I explained it to Mrs Tex, anyway. Now it’s dressed up as a clone of my carry gun. -
