I jumped on Ruger.com for a quick minute this morning to check on something else and this is the first thing to hit me.  
I'd buy it.
Now if only Ruger would sell/release parts to consumers they'd have a serious homerun.

How hard would it be to make it available with a 6 round cylinder for use in IDPA?

That's what the Match Champion (in either .357 or 10 mm) is for. Use this, as is, for USPSA or ICORE.
