jm1827 284 Posted June 5, 2019 Not sure if this is true, but heard from a friend I work with that the state is running low or out of pistol permits. He applied in Clark, and from what he told me they are usually fairly quick on their turn around. He applied using the online system and after about a month he called just to check on his permits and they told him that everything was done but they were out of actual permits and were waiting on a delivery. xtreme381 8 Posted June 5, 2019 I just saw a post on the Njguns sub reddit about something similar happening in Hoboken; he was informed they didn't have any permits. I didn't believe it at first and thought they were pulling a fast one over on the poster. For your friend to get the same response in Clark is probably not a coincidence. I didn't realize there is a limited amount. The cynic in me wonders if they are purposely withholding permits as a defacto form of control.

45Doll 5,877 Posted June 5, 2019 There's nothing in the NJ statutes that requires the supply of permits to be maintained. Is there?
dajonga 396 Posted June 5, 2019 Misplace permits in a warehouse somewhere, stop printing new permits, blame it on an unnamed vendor and BINGO! Totalitarian handgun control. Clever that Murphy.
jm1827 284 Posted June 5, 2019 From what he told me they were out of permits and had no idea when new ones were coming in. Interesting that it is not limited to only Clark.
Tunaman 548 Posted June 5, 2019 I'll bet money that a revised form is coming with more bullshit on it. Just like when they removed the word "carry" from our FID cards...
JohnnyB 4,325 Posted June 5, 2019 They may have removed the word "carry", but you still have the right to carry!
Batt52 14 Posted June 5, 2019 (edited) S.P. 671 was revised 8/18. Here are two permits. Edited June 5, 2019 by Batt52 update pic
beachwhistle 28 Posted June 5, 2019 I’m also in Clark and called Monday to find out where my permits were. I was told the same thing. They’re out of them and the State Police are out of them as well. They blame it on the governors office.
silverado427 10,708 Posted June 5, 2019 How the @#$%^ can you be out of permits.
Batt52 14 Posted June 5, 2019 I would guess with the proposed increase to $50 per permit, people are getting them now for $2 each.. I know that is what my wife and I did..

Oh look more votes for the progressive, under all these handgun permits.

Many people are already ignoring the recent attacks, now that they are prevented from buying, is going to get people up in arms. Keep in mind now the Ffls are impacted as they can’t sell guns to folks with no permits.

Zelig 21 Posted June 6, 2019 I just left global pharmaceuticals R&D. We frequently needed to update forms for Federal and International regulatory reasons. FYI, turnaround time was about 5 business days. For NJ it take no longer than 2-3 days in my opinion. This assumes NJ really wants to get them quickly
PK90 3,570 Posted June 6, 2019 Why can't the PD make copies, like dealers have to make copies of the 4473 when the government runs out?

Each permit has a unique "control number" stamped into it in red. Copies would negate that security feature.
