Each permit has a unique "control number" stamped into it in red.  Copies would negate that security feature.

Now if NJ only joined the 21st century like the rest of America and used you know... the NICS system. lol.

For the FFLs, when you call in NJ Nics, do you give a copy of the pistol permit number or no?

We all know that the pistol permit has been a form of gun control since the advent of NICS, but "running out" is just a total WTF.

The whole thing is a joke... especially living in PA.  Like, you want a gun?  Go to FFL, pass NICS, fill out forms, done.

I was wondering about that, how many other businesses still use NCR forms and dot matrix printers? Hasn't technology made them just about obsolete?

Multiple PD's didn't realize they were getting close to the bottom of the case of forms?

Really? We're to believe that?

I'm applying for permits tomorrow even though I am not interested in a handgun right now. There needs to be a class action filed.  Incompetent , corrupt, conniving, colluding statists.   There needs to be accountability.  Fudds  be damned.

They call NJSP...

"Hey, we are running low on pistol permits.... send more."

"Sorry, we are very low on them here.  You will get them when available."

I honestly don't think the issue here is the townships... but at the state level.

My take on this situation:

The world supply of 4-part pinfeed NCR  (no carbon required) paper stock is finally exhausted.

This type of paper has been used since the 70's and the technology went extinct in the late 1990s.

The printing industry, with so little demand for this type of paper forms, has made the manufacturing of it no longer financially viable.

The state's printing vendor has finally run out of this 4 color/part blank stock and the state, in its infinite wisdon (Not!) has failed to come up with an alternative.

No worries for the state - this just accelerates their ultimate agenda of no handgun sales in the PRNJ.

The only thing wrong with that is that you can currently go to Staples and still buy a type writer, 3 and 4 part carbon paper and ink rollers for both printing calculators typer writers.

If that's the case, it makes it look even MORE suspicious..

If it was just one town, sure... but more than one town?  State.

What I think may have been happening is the state was assuming they would print new permits for the new $50 or whatever the heck it is supposed to be fee.... and did not want to order more of the current permits before having to buy new ones.

Perhaps they're laying the groundwork for justifying the $100 FID. "We have to go digital so we aren't denying the comrades'...err....citizens' rights." Pistol permits are a form or register in NJ. With a digital FID they could track purchases with the SBI number on your card.

The NJSP stopped shipping permits a couple of years ago. Police departments have to send a police officer to Trenton to pick them up when they need more permits.

Well that’s a great use of taxpayer money.

I'v not heard of any of my customers having an issue with permits. It might be that some towns ran out early who knows.
