Mrs. Peel 7,157 Posted June 6, 2019 Thanks for posting this, @High Exposure. I was actually coming on here to post SOMETHING about it... seemed inexcusable to let the anniversary go unmentioned. When I try to imagine what it must have been like for each successive wave of soldiers storming the beaches at Normandy - crawling over the bodies of those cut down before them --- wow! It truly boggles the mind. I would argue we're much too loose today with the word "hero" - we even use it for athletes for goodness sakes! But D-Day? That certainly was heroic! . And it's particularly (and strangely) sobering to be looking at the TV right now and to see that there was some serious training accident at a West Point training center this morning. 1 dead, many hospitalized apparently.
